Down 13 at half, Cornell pulls out 57-53 home win. Adam Gore and Lenny Collins reassert themselves as stars, as Collins records 17 points, and Gore scores 15.
Bigger picture, Cornell's post problems continue without injured Jason Hartford. Andrew Naeve is forced to play a ridiculous 33 minutes, but records 11 rebounds.
Slim chance that Hartford returns for game against Bucknell on Saturday, December 17. If he does, Cornell has a shot at pulling the upset. Hartford played 27 minutes against PSU, 25 against Colgate, but was limited to 18 minutes with his injury against Hartford (the beginning of Cornell's losing streak). He has not played since the Hartford game.

This was a gut-check game for the Big Red. They kept their heads, didn't panic, and worked very hard throughout the second half. They got contributions, little and big, from 10 players. It's interesting that they made their second-half run with Collins on the bench. When Collins came back in, he didn't press himself and kept within the flow. Even through their defense was basically sound, I still see problems with the weak-side rebounding. It wasn't a problem last year with the 6'4", 202-lb Cody Toppert. But this year it's more often a 5'11", 175 point guard guarding the back side.

I was at both the Q and Lehigh games.
In today's win over Lehigh, the Big Red went on a 33-9 run after trailing 36-20. Brian Kreefer had 2 key threes, Rourke contributed a few hoops, but Adam Gore was the key--his shooting is this team's best offense right now.
On the minus side, Cornell totaled 31 points between the 2nd half vs. Q and the 1st half vs. Lehigh. Ugly is an understatement for what those two halfs looked like. I'd rather not discuss them any further.
Lenny Collins continues to struggle with his shot. That's almost a positive, though, because if he can find his stroke by the time league play gets here, that will be a major shot in the arm for Cornell. Getting Hartford back will also help, although Kreefer did a decent impression of him.
Interesting note: Jason Mitchell started vs. Lehigh and played just 7 minutes, as Rourke replaced him early. Perhaps a disciplinary measure was the reason Rourke didn't start? pure speculation on my part.
Also: Ugo played his first significant minutes of the season and battled hard on the boards, but wasn't much of a factor.
