Why no Zena? Would have much preferred win over Cantabs with Zena.

My understanding is that Zena injured himself against Cornell. He rehabed the next day and tried to go against Columbia, wasn't himself, and eventually had to pull himself out. No idea how serious the injury is.
Also, Evan Cummins was ill and didn't practice all week. Tried to play in first half but didn't come out for second half. Eventually joined bench but did not re-enter game.
Princeton played well and earned the victory. Hope Zena and Evan recover soon.

That is very bad luck on the front line. Hope both recover quickly.

A little surprising that Steeves played less with those guys out. Seems like the added backcourt size could help with the bigs out, and if the defense is hurt by the injuries, one option is to throw more offense at the problem.

I hope that both players are healthy and ready for the rematch -- and have terrible games.

I walked into Jadwin at 6:40pm, just in time to see Zena walking off the floor in street clothes, trailing the team into the locker room. Knowing that he almost didn't play against Columbia last weekend, I was bummed but not surprised. Second thought was to wonder if it was too late to bet on the game!
Noting that Evan seemed lethargic. I learned at halftime that Evan was ill all week and didn't practice. He didn't come out with the team for the second half.
In addition, Princeton went with full court pressure most of the game. That led to TO's and slowed down the offense - especially because last night the same perimeter players dealing with the press had to create the offense without an interior scoring option. McCarthy shot well, lost the ball a lot, and played in foul trouble most of the game. Still, a big game for him as he led the effort when he was on the court. The bigger, rested and quicker Princeton guards had their way when McCarthy wasn't on the court.
Andre Chatfield got some minutes and played a nice and efficient game. He flashed his open court speed, twice scoring on break outs. He made all 3 shots.
Chris Egi and Weisner Perez got more minutes than usual. Weisner was undersized at center and Egi was athletic, but never seems to look for his shot.
It's got to be hard for a team to completely overhaul its game plan after focusing on inside-out for months. Tougher still to do it at Jadwin againt a good Princeton squad. Let's see what happens at Penn tonight. Not sure who will move DNH off the blocks.

OK, now I'm ready to cut harvard some slack. But, they are still deep in talent. It just hasn't been tested yet.

Without Zena and with Evan ailing, DNH was unmovable.
Additional skilled bigs have yet to enroll.

Tough weekend for the Crimson. Without Zena and with Cummins ailing, they didn't get it done on the boards. It seemed like they got enough stops, but giving up O rebounds to the opponent took the wind out of their sails. The Princeton game was just plain ugly. Hard to watch. Turn over after turnover. Horrible foul shooting. They improved the foul shooting in Saturday, but again gave up way too many O rebounds. As the foul shooting improved the outside shooting regressed. They now become the spoiler. Any word on Zenas return?
