This game is big enough to deserve its own thread. I'm emotionally set up for disappointment because my gut tells me that Princeton will win this one.
The Tigers need to push the pace and make Columbia uncomfortable by making the poorer passers handle the ball, dominate the boards, and be physical diving for loose balls. It's OK to give up a few layups if their three-point shooting can be shut down and turnovers can be forced.
On offense, run the break when it's there. The standard half-court offense should be fine in this game. Make sure there's plenty of off-ball player movement to screw up their help defense.

Ugly start for Tigers. Rushing shots, missing layups (3), oh fer from the arc, bad turnovers. Have to settle down!

Awful start. Guys inventing ways to miss easy buckets. We'd be in a huge hole if Columbia wasn't missing layups, too. Defensive effort is okay.
We need Cannady in there to jump start the offense.

Nothing is going down. Some awful shot selection is not helping matters.

Eight minutes into the game, missed every shot from the floor; two Miller offensive rebound putbacks and two foul shots.

Just awful execution on both sides of the ball. Did the team walk from Ithaca or something? They are really stinking it up. Down 12 and it could be worse. Canady should drive all night--he is getting fouled and going to line whenever he wants.

Shots just not going down. Decent rebounding. So far it's the Pete Miller show.

I take back the rebounding remark. Caruso cannot buy a basket.

Tigers shooting 5/23 from field, 1/9 from 3-point line. This has to even out eventually. Down 8

We're getting creamed. The well-rested team looks like the exhausted one -- probably the worst basketball of the season. Caruso is in bizarro world. He's one of the hottest shooters in D-I and he's 0-6 with 5 missed wide-open looks.
Is Joe Scott in the building?

The good news is that the Lions, especially Lo, have been cold shooting from outside. The bad news is that they've gotten too many inside looks off drives and ORs. The worse news is that the bad shooting luck is starting to affect the Tigers' confidence just running the offense. The annoying thing is that the ILDN feed is mixing two different audio streams.

Great close. Only down 4 after ugly half of basketball. Peter Miller and Devin Canady keeping us in the game.

Never been so happy to be down four at the half. Tigers need to treat the second stanza as a brand new game. Caruso and Cook have to keep plugging away. And they need to make sure they don't leave Lo open any more.

It's a miracle this game isn't a blowout loss already. Both teams are flubbing layups, but at least Columbia has an excuse with their more strenuous win last night. Our guys are rested.
The ice-cold 3pt shooting is very troubling when combined with the TO disadvantage (7:0 !!!). Miller and Cannady came to play -- they've been aggressive throughout.
Caruso was due for an off-game, but man, I think he's missed the same # of open looks in this half than he has all season! Watching the Ivy's answer to Doug McDermott miss 5-6 open looks in a row is weird.

Pete Miller saving our bacon with 5/5 FG and 2/2 FT in first half to keep the game close. Only 5 POINTS FROM THE REST OF THE STARTERS! This has to improve in the second half!

Princeton has had more good looks than Columbia, even with the TOs. Lots of Lion shots have been contested or taken while the player was moving fast. Many of the Tiger misses have been halfway down. I'm pretty optimistic about the second half.

Cohen having a huge game for CU rebounding, getting steals, guarding Caruso. Weisz doing a good job on Rosenberg.

Brennan can't be taking step back shots from 16 feet. He just can't do that in this game!
