I like it when the Tigers play beautiful basketball, but fight and grit are what you have to have and this team has shown that in almost every game this year. Wow! Too bad Cannady is below the legal drinking age because the team owes him a round or two.

Cannady was amazing. Best play was crossing in front of Rosenberg on his last drive to make him fumble it out of bounds. Incredible instincts and anticipation!

Which ever assistant recruited Cannady is the genius. MH should have played Devin more and ran more plays for him early on, especially with Caruso and Cook having career-worst games.

At the end, they just gave him the ball and asked him to make something out of nothing. And he did. About 6 of 7 times in a row.

My guess is that Mitch himself did most of the work in recruiting Cannady. As a fellow Hoosier, he could relate directly to Devin and tell him what to expect as an Indiana high school star coming to central NJ.

Weird game. I never would have thought that CU could get 17 ORs on 37 missed FGAs against the Tigers. That was awful. On the other hand, PU got 12 ORs on 32 missed shots, also above norm. And the guys who missed all those FGs--Bell, Caruso, Cook, and Weisz--went 19-23 from the foul line. The Lions had 19 more FGA and 17 fewer FTA than PU.

We all understand Princeton played the last few minutes of regulation and overtime brilliantly, but how can this thread be discussing the game in such detail without one of you tiger fans discussing the outrageous refereeing. Princeton, regardless of their strong effort down the stretch did not deserve to win that game. Congrats on a gritty win

Yes, the calls seemed to go Columbia's way most of the time.

Everybody complains about the level of Ivy officiating. So whenever a team drops a close important game, there is always more whining from the losers than winners. But, until we get better refs, we're stuck with this situation. It cuts both ways. So, I suggest that you get over it. Or, do you point out the bad officiating when the Lions win?

We're stuck in this situation? No.. Columbia, Cornell, Brown and Dartmouth are stuck in this situation. If I'm a Princeton fan I hope the league never changes the officiating.

While you're at it, I'm sure that Penn fans feel very left out.

On a more gracious note, one has to feel something for Maodo Lo who played his heart out. Tonight Devin Canaday played like a younger Lo.

To be fair, we were all over the refs when Penn was winning that game.

If it was not for the refs the Penn game does not go into OT, plain and simple. Tonight, Columbia can only blame itself for the peculiar strategy of having Lo go for an uncontested layup.

Miraculous and absurdly exciting win considering the large deficits in regulation and OT. Exciting game but not particularly well played by either team; partially attributable to defense but both teams shot poorly. Neither team will beat Yale at home if they play like that.

Miller in the first 30 minutes and Cannady in the last 10 minutes saved the Tigers. Mullens and Cohen played great for the Lions throughout the game.

Cannady has ice in his veins and keeps getting more and more playing time. Caruso, Weisz and Cook were disappointing. They need to come up big next Friday night. I can not say enough about the improvement of Pete Miller over the past 2 1/2 years. He can defend and rebound consistently.

Tigers and Lions have now each dodged two bullets and Yale none.

So I point out that Pete Miller has settled into a role with minimal scoring, and he goes on to a breakout scoring game.

As MH pointed out after the game, the emphasis on defense for both teams was the three point line, which left lots of room around the rim for rebounds and put backs.

BTW, I wish MH hadn't referred to Cannady's three point buckets as "lucky" at the post game press conference.

Columbia defended well, especially against Caruso, who always had a defender near by at the three point line (he needs space for that set shot of his), and active hands by the help defenders when he chose to drive.

Those little Cannady floaters are wonderful. Cook made one in OT, but it back-rimmed and rolled in.

My favorite play was Myles Stephens swatting the ball out of Rosenberg's hands.

I could not watch the game but was sneaking looks at the score on my phone and was surprised and thrilled to see the final score since Princeton had been behind all night. Looking at the ugly stat sheet, it does not paint the picture of a victory: 20% shooting for 3-pointers, more TOs than assists, Columbia with a ton of ORs, and no production from Caruso, Weisz or Cook. Cannady's individual brilliance, Miller's career game, many made FTs, and Columbia not fouling at the end of regulation was the difference. Championship teams figure out a way to get it done when the usual formula isn't working and that scrappiness plus some luck somehow was enough last night.

Not pretty, but any away-game victory against one of the top 3 teams in the league is a good one and Princeton has now given itself an opportunity to control its own destiny. We will see on Friday whether they belong in the conversation as the top team in the Ivies this year, but we will need the Tigers' best game of the league season to beat Yale at Jadwin.

Heartbreaking and devasting defeat for Columbia seniors as they had the opportunity to break the chain of non-NCAA appearances since 1968. The seniors would have been remembered for many years to come. The team was fortunate to have Mullins and Rosenberg come back for their senior season to team up with Lo for their last run. I am not a fan of Rosenberg's style of play but their seniors play with great heart. Who knows maybe they can get into a playoff scenario.

If Yale and Tigers both go 13-1, the loser will probably not get a NCAA bid although Yale is now #53 and Princton #58 -- the loser may well get a NIT bid. A fair number of bids go to conference winners even thought they may have a lower Kenpom ranking.

I hope that Henderson hangs in at Princeton for at least one more year as next year could be really special. Some larger school is going to target him, unfortunately but Friday night is all that matters.
