I agree with U-man, I think Columbia will play Yale tough in New Haven next weekend. They are a very good team and if they can get to the foul line like they did last night they will not be easy to beat. It should be an intense game with the seniors on both teams having a lot to play for in the last game for the Lion seniors who have accomplished so much and for the Yale seniors trying to purge the demons from last year's season-ending heartbreakers.
Another really entertaining win last night from Princeton. The ORs, fouls, missed FTs and Bell's play were frustrating, but they were in control all game thanks to the leadership of the junior class. They are a really poised and dangerous team: when Bell is not a factor and Cannady has a quiet night, Myles steps up and plays like an All-Ivy veteran.
Four games to go and I like where we sit.

A big key to last night's win was the strong close in the first half despite mounting foul trouble on the Tigers. MH just kep throwing bodies out their to keep guys from picking up their third and they played really well. Young was textbook in drawing a critical O foul on Rosenberg (who I think gets away with murder pushing off on his shot), Forbes hung in there, Rayner saw a couple of minutes, Brennan was ok, and of course Stephens was brilliant. Being up 9 despite having to sub all these guy in was huge.

I'm fascinated by the depth of this Princeton team. To play two 88-83 games just 2 weeks apart against the same team and have such a completely different scoring profile seems unique.
Game 1:
Caruso/Weiss/Cook/Stephen s: 30 pts (34%)
Miller/Bell/Cannady/Brenn an: 58 pts (66%)
Game 2:
Caruso/Weiss/Cook/Stephen s: 75 pts (85%)
Miller/Bell/Cannady/Brenn an: 13 pts (15%)
Same teams, same final score, 13 days apart.

Lions host the Bulldogs at Levien, which gives them a home court edge. Columbia is playing very well right now. I have seen both Yale and Columbia play at Jadwin. Kyle Smith's club gave us a tougher time, nearly overcoming a 16 point second half deficit. It took a miracle end-of-shot-clock 3 by Cook and Cannady's only FG of the night to avoid a calamity. I give Columbia a great chance to hold serve at home.

Yale's game against Columbia next weekend is in NYC not New Haven which is a good thing for the Tigers. Yale just has too much strength with Sears and Sherrod and Columbia has little interior defensive skills. Caruso, Cook and others could literally drove to the basket at will last evening. Columbia has very good offensive skills but based on the stats, Yale plays better defense than any Ivy League team.
Whether one looks at stats, RPI rankings etc., Yale and Princeton are clearly one cut above Columbia. The one plus that you point out is that it will be Lo and Company last game at home. It would not be the least bit surprising that the Tigers need to win out and beat Yale in a playoff -- no slam dunk at all.
Once again, Miller wins the tip. In the Tiger's 5 losses, Miller lost the tip each game. In all other games, other 3 or 4 games, he won the opening tip and the Tigers won ---- he is a good luck charm. So, if he wins the tip against Sears in a playoff game (no easy task), we are going to the tournament.

If CU puts Cohen on Mason and sags off Dailier and maybe Victor they might be able to disrupt Yale's offense some. But they would still have to rebound very well to stop the second-chance points. And they would need a good outside shooting night. Very doable at home, but still an upset.

Not sure if tonight is Senior Night or the Penn game. Either or, the only senior this year Mike Washington Jr. deserves a lot of credit for working hard over the past 4 years without getting much playing time.
He seems to be a leader based on pre-game activities. Mike is also one of the biggest cheerleaders and it appears that his teammates look up to him. Wish him the very best.

KenPom now gives Lions a slight edge against the Bulldogs next week. I believe the Saturday trip to NYC from Ithaca is the toughest of the back-to-backs. Was almost a killer for us. Go Lions!!!

Let's hope that you are right. It is a long trip and Columbia has a very good offense and hopefully, Lo-Mullins-Rosenberg are hitting their shots.
Concern is how does Columbia defend and rebound against Sears and Sherrod. Watching the Tigers go around Petrasek and Coby at the hoop was not a very difficult task. Furthermore, Petrasek almost seemed indifferent when the Tigers went up 16 points in the second half.
Maybe, the Lions will simply pack in the defense using a zone and let Yale shoot 3s'. It seems like a tough match up for the Lions but their seniors have guts and determination.
