Probably a win, but here's hoping DNH ends his career with a flourish.

If Princeton defends the interior like it did in the second half against Dartmouth, DNH will score at will. If also we suddenly go flat at the three, the quackers could give us a very embarrassing loss. I'll say Tigers by 9, but DNH scores 26 and gets 13 bounds. Refs make enough bad calls to give Penn fans plenty to beef about. Everybody leaves happy.

Will this be the lowest attended game in Penn-Princeton history? Is Princeton on break also?

It will be a good test for Miller to guard the big guy. I think that he will hang in there and defend. I would be very surprised if Princeton comes out flat. Weisz will probably be whipping the ball to open shooters and we will see if the shooters are hitting 3 pointers at Jadwin.
One of the NIT Bracketologist has Princeton as a #5 seed going against Clemson but it will probably be someone else. It does bring out the issue that the Tigers will need Miller/Brennan and Brase on the floor at the same time next year against certain opponents. Caruso may be coming off the bench with Cannady for instant offense or getting the right match up.

The overlooked guy in all this is Bell. He was not great against Harvard offensively but saved the Princeton bacon against Penn the first time. They have no one to guard him or Cannady on drives. I wonder if Donahue will try to go zone or if the Tigers' outside shooting will deter him.

My guess is you will see a mix of both MTM and zone. The big mistake Donahue made in the first game was not using a zone up 11 with 3.30 to play. P was able to get to the foul line repeatedly on drives and get back into the game without the clock moving.

It will be interesting to see how different is the outcome in game #2 of the series. I suspect a very different outcome but we will find out shortly.

The big mistake he made was not going ape-s--t when Princeton started committing charge after charge with blind no-chance rumbles down the lane and every one was called a shooting foul against Penn. And Penn had an 11 point lead with 3:38 to go and there were 5 fouls called on Penn to allow Princeton to recover. Same thing they did last year at Princeton.
But all we had to do was hit one shot in that stretch, so no excuse.

What an ugly win. Penn wanted the victory. Princeton wanted to get it over with. It's this kind of attitude that cost us the Ivy title.
Next season, I expect a similar campaign with the choke job coming against Penn to give Harvard the title by a single game.

Squeaked by again. Had not realized the team went 13-0 at home for a school record. Fingers crossed for an even more consistent performance next year.
Who things we make the NIT?

They were doing fine until they went up by 16. But I agree, at that point they seemed to start thinking about the next game. I could not understand why they kept allowing uncontested treys from the side even after Penn began to hit.
Ah well, NOW they can think about the next game.

That was very hard to watch. Tigers seemed to be toying with Penn all game, making enough shots to stay comfortably ahead but turning the ball over at alarming rate to keep it from getting out of hand. Then Penn starts shooting the ball and Tigers just started unraveling. Tough to come back fired up after the long NE weekend, particularly during midterm week.
Still think Tigers will get an NIT bid.

Congratulations are due to Penn for their gutty conclusion to this game.
Never can Princeton take Penn lightly - it's an old and and furious rivalry. When I saw that line of 16, I thought that was too large a point spread, even if this isn't one of the Penn teams of old.
We should still make the NIT. When we had a #8 ranking and a 25-1 record (plus or minus) having lost only in the last two minutes to North Carolina back in the Carmody days, we needed overtime to beat Penn and still were seeded high in the NCAA tournament.
But this one was scary. Never underestimate Penn when they play Princeton.

To be fair, that was a solid Penn team on the cusp of dominating the Ivies with Mike Jordan.
This one is a different story, and sadly there have been too many Penn-Princeton contests of late that have not been so close. But it's hard to imagine a year that has had two Penn-Princeton games that come down to the wire like 2016--very little to separate these two squads.

We got a peek into the future with this team tonight. Down 18 with about 15 minutes to play Donahue went with four freshman and Matt Howard. Hamilton, Rothschild, Silpe and J Donahue sparked a furious rally that got us to within a point. The offense was beautiful and the defense was inspiring for much of that run. SD subbed in DNH and the team changed gears dramatically. They slowed down, became predictable, and no one was open.
With the freshmen they looked energetic, shared the ball and played solid defense. Hamilton adds athleticism we just don't have anywhere else. Amir Bell killed us at the Palestra and Hamilton made him almost a non factor tonight.
I think this team will be much better without DNH next year. I am going on record as predicting a top 4 finish.

<<Down 18 with about 15 minutes to play Donahue went with four freshman and Matt Howard. Hamilton, Rothschild, Silpe and J Donahue sparked a furious rally that got us to within a point.>>
That was not the sequence of events.
It was 36-53 with 10:59 remaining. Penn went with a lineup of Silpe, Donahue, Howard, Sam Jones and Rothschild. With that lineup the margin was reduced to 47-58 with 7:59.
Tyler Hamilton came in for Sam Jones. The margin went back to 14, 49-63 with 6:29 remaining.
Then three consecutive Princeton turnovers were followed, in succession, by a Jackson Donahue 3 pointer, a Matt Howard 3 pointer, and a steal and breakaway dunk by Tyler Hamilton. It was now 57-63 with 5:08 remaining.
Darien Nelson-Henry returned to the game replacing Max Rothschild. The two of them came in and out of the lineup for each other as part of offensive/defensive substitutions and the remainder of the comeback occurred with that group. For the final play, with 3.2 seconds remaining, Darnell Foreman replaced Jake Silpe and Sam Jones replaced Tyler Hamilton.

Tigers played sloppy basketball even with 11 pt half time lead and 18 pt 2nd half lead. Penn plays feisty, gritty, ugly basketball and Princeton fell into their trap.
Miller played hard and there was no major disadvantage with Penn C.
I am surprised that there was not the normal chorus of whining about the ref calls, similar to some of our friends 50 miles north although there was some whining during the women's game -- equal opportunity whining I guess.
