Hey all--
My editor, Stephen Pianovich, got Steve Donahue for a Q&A to talk about a whole bunch of topics. The Antonio Woods news--which I'm sure a bunch of you knew anyways--is still new to the public, and it's good to see Donahue acknowledge it.

I notice this references a 5 player recruiting class. When last I heard, there seemed to be 6 incoming freshmen plus a transfer in Wood. Has somebody (or multiple somebodies) dropped out of the incoming class?

My first guess would be that the Q&A was done before the latest commitment and that it took a few days to write, but that could be completely wrong

I think he was referencing the starting five and the next four man rotation. He pretty said he isn't there yet.

i did not know about antonio. While I don't think he's the reigning IVY POY like P38, I find this encouraging. Cool.

Silver lining is that he should be around for the Ivy slate. Hope things work out for him. The original Wood story read:

Penn basketball guard Antonio Woods has been declared ineligible for the remainder of the season. According to a release from Penn Athletics Saturday morning, Woods is ineligible for the remainder of the 2015-16 season “due to insufficient academic progress under University policy.”

As a result, the sophomore did not play in Saturday evening’s game against Princeton and cannot re-enroll at Penn until spring 2017. Following the game, coach Steve Donahue said in a press conference that he found out Woods was ineligible on Friday night.

It would be great to see Woods back. Be a real shame for him to miss out on a Penn degree. I think if he can get those shooting %s up he still has potential to be a very good basketball player also.

Let's hope that in addition to working on whatever he needs to do to succeed at Penn academically, he is also working on his game. He is a very talented player. It will help of course, if we put some guys who can score around him.
