It's tough to criticize an AD who brings in one of the highest profile women's basketball players of all time to a small school like Loyola. You put good assistants behind her and go out and recruit.

Can't say that anyone knew that Swopes was a trainwreck.

I'm more concerned with her basketball hire here.

Swoopes sounds like she would be great on reality TV. A former player for her said that after a year of experience a lot of the problems in Swoopes's life, described in the ESPN documentary about her that she had her team watch, made sense because "drama" was part of Swoopes's behavior.

Maybe Rodman should have reached out to Grace here. We'd probably be better on the boards.

Well, we can't complain too much about that sort of thing:

Two sides of Coach Kelly Greenberg

One wonders if women's basketball has more of these kind of coaches, or whether women are just less willing to put up with this kind of crap.

Given incidents we know about on the Men's side I think it's easy enough to figure out the answer to that.

Allowing a coach the power to threaten a player with loss of scholarship is one of the strongest arguments against athletic scholarships and in favor of the Ivy policy of assistance based on financial need.

As long as all schools are able to compete on the same playing field, I have always agreed with you. However, endowments and class size make it impossible to offer the same kind of generous need based financial aid for the non-HYPr schools to all students. So we have to have a convention of sorts to discuss how to make the system fair for everyone (and that includes entry into the FCS playoffs).
