Interesting that he will play for Perdue next year. I'm not aware of other 5th years transferring within the same conference.

Bielefeld, who originally played at Michigan, transferred and played at Indiana this past season.

Apparently the school at which a player originally played has the right under NCAA rules to "release" a player to play a post-grad year under conditions. Initially, Michigan restricted its release of Spike to non-Big 10 teams. Then after it got a lot of criticism for that restriction, Michigan withdrew its restrictions thereby allowing Spike to play anywhere, which in this case ended up being Purdue.
