Princeton has added former Villanova star and 9 year NBA veteran Kerry Kittles as an assistant coach. Since his NBA career ended, Kittles earned an MBA at Villanova and has been working as an ambassador and advisor there. This will be his first coaching job.

Interesting career path. Write up does not mention he also had a brief stint on Wall Street with a non-extant firm. Prior coaches coming through this route have turned out well, so we'll see. Sounds like he has the right idea what coaching at an ivy is about.

Sounds good on paper. If only he weren't from Villanova.... I still remember being showered with beer cans at their pathetic field house in 1967 in the waining minutes of our win over them. VBK said that he would never bring another team back there. The bushest league of the "Big 5".

Interesting hire. Kittles was a very good player prior to the knee injury -- heady, clutch player who played excellent defense as well. Strikes me as a potential good recruiting weapon for Coach Henderson. I believe that the stakes are getting raised on the recruiting front for Ivy League teams looking out to the future.

A very interesting move. NBA credibility PLUS he knows the Princeton offense - played it with the Nets.

Off memory, I had no idea he was the all-time leading scorer and steals guy in Villanova history. That's impressive given their program's history. Also in two NBA finals alongside Jason Kidd. Even for younger players that has to add credibility in recruiting and teaching.

I agree with all the comments above. Don't know how it all came together, but I am definitely excited to see how he can contribute. I think Mitch is going to have a lot, almost too much talent, next year, and one of his challenges will be how to divvy up the time and what combinations to use. I suspect Kittles's experience will be beneficial in figuring that out.
