Seriously. I am so bored, I will give 4 american dollars to the next person who posts a commit. 6 if the guy is more than 2 star on verbal commits.

While I would truly enjoy Jeff being leveled by a "Coup Fourre" as soon as he makes a comment like that, you can't pull out a recruit whom we got months ago as a gotcha. We need a new recruit within the Jeff definition to garner that $6.

I indeed was wondering if anyone would pick up that reference. Yes, freshman life was exciting, playing Mille Bornes on the floor of my Quad room.

See that's the problem. There was no "Jeff definition". So I played the game within the established rules. It's not my issue if the rules were bad.

Larry Literal, I think everyone knew what I meant. If you're dying for 6 dollars, stop by and I'll buy you a soda at the Palestra.

I want to read about new commits.

If you do a quick scan of Verbal Commits you'll see we actually haven't had many Spring/Summer signings in the past few years. Autumn and early Winter have been much more (publicly) active.

Now maybe if that mythical transfer is still out there we could hear something soon.

Two things, pennhoops:

1. I wasn't saying my wish was realistic, but that's why I attached such a princely sum (SIX DOLLARS) to it.

2. I have a hypothesis that if we can get earlier commits (in this case summer) they may be better and is more indicative of swimming with the sharks than picking through the leftovers.

Of course you can still get good recruits later but...

I knew what you meant too, but you didn't say it and the business man in me saw an opportunity to take advantage. I'll take that soda too.

July will heat things up a bit as the live evaluation period begins the second weekend through the end of the month. Many 2017 grads commit in August/September so we should see some movement around then. Penn also has their elite camp in a couple weeks in June, where some of their top recruits will visit campus. Could get some news out of that.

My reply wasn't a rebuttal but more the answer to a question your post brought on for me.

I'd be less worried about the speed of commits and about the quality. On the heels of three six-man classes (plus a transfer), I'd be surprised if Penn could go very deep at all in this upcoming class, and it already has verbals from two guys who weren't exactly swimming in offers.

In a year when Harvard is going to have a small class, there is a real opportunity to meet the rising demand for Ivy offers and reel in a boatload of talent. If I were a Penn partisan, I'd rather see nothing this summer than have a couple 2* kids commit and be locked up in the fall when 3* kids are looking at Ivy schools.

You're absolutely right that I would prefer that, Mike. I think my fear is that by the time the commitments roll in, only the 2*s will be left.

This is another way of saying this board is bleeping boring.

But Jeff, you were the one who was creating all of the excitement here. Better pharmacologic therapy now, huh?
