Thought I would start a new thread of recruits who will not matriculate until next year.

Jerome Desrosiers (6-6, 215, 3*) on his video clips looks very athletic around the rim and also a nice touch from the 3pt line. Kind of a more muscular version of Cook. And he adds French to the Italian, German and Spanish flair of the team.

We are recruiting 3 stars level players frequently now. Not all of course play up to rating, but eventually one of them may play at an even higher level.

So we are now recruiting 3 stars on a regular basis while Harvard is flirting with 4 and occasional 5 star candidates. Since we have every bit as much to offer in academics, athletics and financial aid, is Harvard giving green stamps, too?

Well, we know Amaker has not always played by the recruiting rules. And there have been the occasional whisperings of academic flexibility, although I am not in a position to know one way or other.

And don't overlook that averaging 3 stars is a step up from where we were not long ago. Besides, lots of big time programs have lots of 3 star players. So I wouldn't get too worked up over it.

Sparsky, were you in Trump's class at Wharton?

I'm not sure anyone was in his classes at Wharton, because I'm not sure he was ever in a class, at least at a university other than Trump U.

Trump U, Princeton, Yale - apparently they're all the same - except that Trump U only has ONE STAR! Of course Tucker Carlson didn't equate Trump U to his alma mater, Trinity College. Although, there could be a good reason:

"It has been alleged that he did not graduate, but Trinity sources claim that he did, though only in five years, while quoting his own view that "After four years I had met a lot of interesting people, gone to a couple of classes and restored a motorcycle and that was it. And so I wasted my time at college."

Green stamps, which one received at grocery stores and gas stations depending on the amount of purchase were, I would argue, the predecessor of frequent flier miles. They were accumulated and eventually exchanged for consumer items such as pop-up toasters. There were several companies that sold their stamps as inducements to retailers. The largest was probably the Sperry and Hutchinson Company (S&H Green Stamps). I found an untold fortune of them mounted in little books as I was cleaning out my mother's attic after my father died in 1998. I don't know if they were still redeemable. But I already had a pop-up toaster and bagel-slicing machine.

We had the yellow Top Value stamps (courtesy of the Levittown, PA. Penn Fruit supermarket) as well as the green S&H stamps. There was even a storefront redemption center.near us if you didn't want to use the mail-order catalog. If they had varied art on the stamps they'd be collectors' items now.

He looks (on paper and in a few videos on YouTube)like a solid recruit.

My only low grade anxiety is that in the current era with 3-star and 4-star (maybe even a 5-star at Harvard?), can we remain competitive with 2-star recruits?

There is a lot of talent in the NY-NJ area. With Spencer Weisz, Amir Bell, Miles Stephens, and now two more recruits we have tapped into a rich vein of that talent. A lot more efficient to scout than California or New England.

We look good on paper this year, but then we lose Cook, Caruso, Weisz, Brase and Miller.

There is a lot of talent still remaining on the team, but I would love to see Pletak, Garza or Simmons sign on.

As you point out, big losses for the 2017-18 season. I am somewhat surprised as to how strong the recruiting class was when Weisz and crew entered the program. There will be probably a significant drop off in leadership as Weisz is the glue and the other guys are solid team players.

Question is does Cannady and Brennan step up with Bell? I have a lot of confidence in Cannady, not sure about the others but let's enjoy this season which should be a good ride. It is time to get to the finish line and get the job done!

First time I have seen Princeton mentioned as a possible spot for this person, previously had been reported only as a Penn target:

Hey there sparman! I am sure you are aware of Verbal Commits but just in case you aren't, it's a good one to check up on once a week!

Article on Luke Garza: Garza recruiting

Old timers will recall that Matt Lapin, a regular on the NCAA team that lost to Georgetown, came from the same high school.

I took it as a mention of a few schools he had visited recently rather than a list of his interests, but I agree this is looking like an increasingly challenging recruitment.

Ryan Schwieger from Charlotte NC metro area commits.

Looks a lot like Steven Cook in build and game. Maybe not the leaping ability, but likes to go to the hoop in the clips I watched.

With a name like Schwieger, shoulda gone to Brown

6-8 Forward Sebastian Much from Orange County, CA has committed to Princeton's Class of 2021, according to Verbal Commits.

Except for a tendency to move in slow motion while flying to the rim , he looks OK in that tape. I don't watch too many of these things, but I suspect it isn't typical for 6'8" guys to feature so many slick passes in their highlights.

Also Mike James posted elsewhere on this board:

Re: Zach Reichle: My hunch is Princeton at this point. We'll see how things develop...

Reichle is a good player, but we could use a "big" in the class.

Reichle is making his decision on 10/17 or 10/18. As I stated previously, if it's one of the two Ivies on his board (Harvard and Princeton), it's going to be Princeton. I guess it's also important to mention that I think it's more than likely that he doesn't go Ivy.

Based on the recruits already signed, we could use a point guard or a big man more than a wing shooter.

Jarrod Simmons, a 3* recruit, is still considering Princeton. From near end of article:

"Simmons, a bright mind on and off the court, has his college choices down to Ivy League programs Penn and Princeton. He could decide as soon as the middle of this month, but some higher-profile suitors such as Kansas State and Dayton continue to be in touch."

Not to cry over spilt milk, and it was surely the stretchiest of stretches, but whenever I read about Garza - a graduate of my child's HS - I think - what might have been.

At least after the pandemic.

10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists on 3/4 from 3 for the now-senior Zach Reichle in Oregon State's upset win over Tennessee in the NCAA tournament today
