Slagus picks up her 3rd PL player of the week award.
http://www.bucknellbison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_O...
Ironically, DeBoer has yet to win a weekly award despite having season stats as good or better than Slagus or any other PL player. She's been remarkably consistent but hasn't had a huge breakout game. Not that any of that matters as long as they keep winning.

The women have one of their toughest remaining games tonight – playing at 3rd place American. When the two teams played at Sojka last month, the Bison had to stage a late rally to get the game to overtime before they finally pulled away. Huge game.

Apparently they just missed the ESPN mid-major top ten but were mentioned positively

Very rough night for the women losing by 12. American's defense always seems to stymie us. Not sure why. 22 turnovers and a poor night shooting. Better now than in the tournament, but hope we don't see American again. Could be tied with Navy for 1st if they beat Boston tomorrow.

Kate Walker, who has been playing really well, missed the game due to illness. Big loss - especially since this is a team that consists mostly of posts and PG's. Kate is the only real two/three in the rotation.

After coming back from 11 down in the 3rd, the Bison completely collapse in the 4th quarter. 3 points in 9-1/2 minutes and lose by 12. Roussell needs to pull some magic out of his hat, because the team has no confidence right now. Two really poor offensive performances the last two games. Yes, they miss Kate Walker but there's enough talent there to compensate for her.

There's enough talent - but it is really mismatched: all PG's and posts. Roussell last March expected to have four twos/threes to use this season - Klotz, Mack, Walker, and Richardson. Klotz likely would have been preseason POY. Instead she is gone, Mack is out for the year with a torn ACL, and Richardson has not returned to form after missing a year due to injuries. That makes Walker one of the team's most important players. Hope she is back soon. Did they mention the extent of her illness?

I only watched the 2nd half. They did not mention how long Walker was expected to be out. Dumiak played well earlier in the year, but apparently has not progress enough to sub for Walker.

We catch a break with Navy losing at home to Colgate. Keeps us tied with Navy for 1st place. American is one game back at 8-3.

Video preview of the Lehigh game:

Women definitely need a bounce back win. Lehigh is only 2-9, but has lost some close games against good teams - particularly the one they gave away to Navy.

Sounds like Kate Walker will be back. They always seem to play better at home, so let's hope they come out ready to play.

Dominant performance today for the women 79-49. The rest of the schedule is relatively easy other than the showdown in Annapolis. We play home games with Loyola & Boston and two with 2-23 Lafayette sandwiched around the Navy game.

Navy squeaked out another close win, this time by 3 at Lafayette. They still have to play Lehigh, Army, American (twice), in addition to the Bison. But four of those five are at home.

Claire DeBoer PL POW this week:

CLAIRE DEBOER, BUCKNELL Sr., 6-1, F, Grosse Pointe, Mich.
DeBoer receives her first weekly honor of the season after averaging a double-double to lead the Bison to a pair of wins and extend the nation’s third-longest current home-winning streak to 24 games. The senior opened the week with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, going 10-of-14 from the field, to help defeat Loyola Maryland, 57-39. She then followed with 19 points and nine rebounds in Bucknell’s 73-56 win over Boston U. on Saturday. DeBoer finished the week averaging 22.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.5 spg, .640 FG%, .400 3FG%, .714 FT%.

Bison got an easy win at Lafayette. Navy lost to American 50-48 leaving us alone in 1st place. American led by 17 at the end of 3 quarters, but went scoreless for the first 7:15 of the 4th. Navy got as close as 1 until American made a few FTs at the end.

Still need to beat them on Saturday to seal the deal, but the odds are looking better for hosting the tournament.

Word on the street is that the Uconn huskies might be coming to Sojka soon, yeah, those Uconn huskies. Uconn has a girl from state college on their team and she needs a "go home" game and apparently penn state might not be willing to host Uconn. Colgate hosted Uconn recently when Syracuse wouldn't play Uconn for a "go home" game so it would be a similar situation to that.

I would guess it's more speculation than fact. The UConn player is a freshman, so a homecoming game is likely three years away. And she is unlikely to ever get many minutes, making her a possible transfer by next year.

Women finish the regular season 16-2, 24-5 with a big win over Lafayette. On to the tournament. Unfortunately, we're likely to see our nemesis, American, in the semis. They lost badly at Navy tonight, so let's hope they're hitting a slump. Hopefully, the Bison can extend their 25 game home winning streak by 3 more.

I know people Hate doing this but what seed would the women be looking at? More interesting, if they fell to the NIT in what no one wants to happen, could they host a game based on their RPI?

Hypothetically
