Thanks for sharing. Walk away is that Coach is going for the "gold" this year and he will be riding the seniors with Bell, Cannady and Stephens. He stated with a grin that he may play someone 40 minutes in the opener against BYU. Definitely sounds like he is placing his bet on the seniors and he was far more confident with his comments than the past. Also sounds like Brase needs to fit back in with the team although he will probably get minutes from Brennan. Finally, additional emphasis will be placed on defense as he appears very confident with the offense.

Coach picked Weisz, Cook and Bell to represent the squad at media day. Weisz is clearly the leader and an extension of Henderson. Both Cook and Weisz have added muscle and fitness and they look like seniors. It was a little surprising that he picked Bell although he probably wants Bell to step up.

Henderson is putting himself in a box if the team does not have considerable success based on his comments.

Thanks for the links. Don't know whether to be reassured or not that the things they emphasized are the ones I've been thinking about.

Mitch has a Top 50, at-large caliber team, and he knows it. Should easily finish as the best Princeton team since the ridiculous 1998 squad.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having high expectations and putting them out there. It will help drive the squad and helps build a foundation for the underclassman. Strike while the iron is hot!

This is what you play/coach for! Why pretend the potential and expectations are not there.

Good Luck Princeton! I'll be pleased if this squad wins every game from now, up to but not including March 12th! (And I won't be rooting for the Tigers on Feb 4th or March 3rd either)

I agree that there is nothing wrong with high expectations but you certainly need to keep your team grounded. How many times do we see superior NFL teams lose because they take their foot off the metal.

Fortunately, BYU-VCU-Cal with Monmouth and St. Joe's right behind them will keep the pressure on the Tigers -- 3 of these teams were rated TOP 50 in this poll. Even if the Tigers play well on the road, there may well lose two or three of these games. Seniors should help especially in the early stages of the season if they have the right mindset.

What do you mean "box"? The NFL analogy is about the weakest you could have employed to make whatever point you think you have...What keeps these veteran players grounded is the bitter taste left from last year's second place finish. As James notes, the SI preseason forecast makes the Tigers a legit At Large pick for the tournament at #47. No time for false modesty.

That's OK. I hope that harvard still makes the NCAA after three losses to the Tigers.

I think the bigger danger is managing whatever adversity the season invariably brings. Sometimes, high expectations can flip on you when you get a bad bounce and something doesn't work out quite the way you expect. Princeton's team probably has the experience to bounce back from something like that. It's definitely a danger for Harvard, where the highly rated freshmen could come in expecting to dominate and struggle if/when they hit a bump in the road.

I expect this team to score efficiently, even against good defense. They'll have to avoid those occasional stretches of multiple turnovers we saw at inopportune times last season to be great on offense. The big question will be how consistently and effectively they play defense (including rebounding), especially with Miller off the floor. They need to come out with an attitude on D every game, almost every possession, to be a great team, Xs and Os aside. It will be interesting to see how much this friendly group will be able to "play angry," as Wichita State likes to put it.

I would be really excited about this team under the old format. But I think their odds of going to tournament go down with the playoff. 2 "neutral" site games at the Palestra, anything can happen - and I'll believe an at large when I see it.

I suppose in subsequent years this will be paid back, but it's frustrating that this top of cycle year is the first for the playoff.

Maybe they'll stub their toes in the regular season and use the folly to get a berth.

Thank god it looks like a great team this year. I need some major distraction after that nightmare election result.

Amen. It is hard for me to even get enthusiastic about the Yale game this weekend. This is what I've lived nearly 70 years to see? Anyone with brains will know Donald Trump for the fool he is. What a tragic sequel to the finest man to occupy the Presidency in my lifetime.

No. Life will go on. I'm just scared to turn on the news and depressed that the world is not in as good shape as I hoped it would be at this point in my life.

At least, BEAT YALE!

Well, 2016 is not exactly "business as usual." I guess I'll be warned if I offend anyone.
