Columbia's Game Notes refer to Ahmed Walker as one of Stony Brook's top returning players, but Walker was dismissed from the team last month. With the exception of guard Lucas Woodhouse, Stony Brook has an entirely different lineup from last year.

Yes, I meant to write Columbia athletics to note their mistake. Adding Walker to the total, Stony Brook has lost 72% of its minutes from last year. They are as unformed a team as we are; tomorrow's game is about who steps up.

I believe that they also lost their head coach to Rutgers. Without SB having Warney and McGraw, Columbia should be able to start up the season with a win. SB was tough the prior two years.

Pikell did go to Rutgers. But defeating SB is by no means a sure thing. In fact, since we are ranked close together (195 to 199 on KenPom), we are supposed to lose away by 3 pts. So if we do win, that would be an initial, positive sign.

Given the unknowns about the Lions, from the different O pace to players who haven't played much, individually or as a group, it's a daunting task to make predictions, especially so soon.

Sure. And without Castlin (see below), the number of unknowns have soared.

Castlin also seemed to be in Smith's doghouse much of the time. Quick hook for any perceived mistake, and even a few times when Smith would scream at him from the sideline. I think Castlin is a great talent and wish him a complete and speedy recovery, with a great senior year.
