In response to RHunter3
Of all the first years, Jake Killingsworth struggled the most last night, just as Engels said when he noted that he was ready mentally but not physically for college b'ball. There were several times when someone just blew by him.
Second, though Engels has complained about Tape's not knowing what he's doing, we need Tape for inside defense ASAP. Let hope he responds quickly, now that he has the coaching that he apparently missed in high school.
Third, and perhaps importantly, is the character of the team. Although it's just one game, the story line is consistent with what Engels has done before. NJIT outperformed expectations. The one complaint against Kyle Smith was that despite his coaching skills, the team often faded in the stretch and underperformed overall. So when we blew a 13 pt lead last night, I thought our genetic anomaly had surfaced once again: we're Columbia, and we're going to lose this game. But no, all of a sudden Mike Smith hits his 3 pt'er, takes a charge, and we cruise home on a 8-1 run.
It gives us all hope that perhaps Engels' teams will really be different.
