Yeah, that was crazy! And some love from Sports Illustrated and Jay Bilas!

And Mason went on to make a crazy comeback in the last minute to send it to OT and eventually got the win.

A much needed win for GMU. Would have been a bad loss had they been eliminated by #202 Fordham.

Mason and VCU in a 1 point game on NBC SN at the under 8 media timeout of the 2H. With Dayton going down earlier, GMU could have a shot if they pull this upset.
NBC just did a feature on Bryson Johnson finding the contact

Vandy wins, and moves from 45 to 33 in RPI ranking. Bison appear to have held steady at 63.

GMU ended up losing by 11. They may have an outside shot at the NIT, but I think a pay-for-play is the likely destination.

Congrats to Mount St Mary's and Coach Christian on their First Four victory. Nail biter but they hang on to defeat New Orleans. I look for another Bison opponent this year, Wake Forest to win in the other FF matchup.

Loyola thumped George Mason in the joke tournament.
Final was 73-58 and Loyola led by more than that for much of the second half. Amazingly they did it with All-PL PG Andre Walker coming off the bench and only playing 24 minutes. No idea as to the reason.
Box Score: http://locl-platform-prod .silverchalice.co/v3/file...
Official attendance was 1400 in GMU's 10,000 arena.

Interesting results today:
WVU defeats Notre Dame, 83-71, and in a big upset, Wisconsin beats Villanova, 65-62.

Richmond is in the "Elite 8" of the NIT. The four teams that made it through the 2nd round so far are a #4, a #5, & two #6's. Only one #! (Ill. St.) and one #2 (Ill.) are still alive. They play their 2nd round games tonight. Nine of the 16 1st round games were won by lower seeds.

To me, this is largely due to the higher seeds being disappointed about not making the NCAA's and not being as hungry as the lower seeded teams. Like when Bucknell defeated Arizona. Taking nothing away from the Bison, but it seemed like Arizona was something les than 100% committed to full focus and drive. We already know that the gap is shrinking among good power conference schools and really good mid majors.

Winthrop head coach Pat Kelsey took the Umass job today, which may open the door for former Bucknell assistant and current Winthrop assistant, Mark Prosser to take over as head coach.

There's an unscientific reader poll on this page; Prosser doing well in it, though.

Apparently Kelsey had second thought about Umass because he's coming back to Winthrop now.

With Kansas being upset by Oregon last night, here is an update on "Bucknell Bill" Self in the NCAA tournament:
"According to ESPN, Self is one of four head coaches with at least eight No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament, but only one of his eight No. 1 teams has reached the Final Four.
Since the 2003-04 season, Self's first at Kansas, he is tied with Duke's Mike Krzyzewski for the most losses to lower-seeded teams in the NCAA tournament, with 10, according to ESPN. Six of those losses came when the Jayhawks were a No. 1 seed.
Self has been favored in Vegas in eight Elite Eight games in his career. He has won only two of those games, and he has covered only once, in 2012 against North Carolina."
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketba ll/story/...
I remember one of those ten losses to a lower seed particularly well.

With all of the Kansas upsets in tournament play. I wonder if his job is on the hot seat at all? I watched the end of there game last night and they looked rather flat as a team and Self did not look to have much urgency to win!
