Last night I think the biggest problem was inability to shoot the ball, plain and simple. Oregon played well, absolutely. But in the second half, Kansas had quite a few consecutive stops and Kansas missed shot after shot. When shooting the ball betrays you, it's just hard to win.

Championship Game tonight. I am psyched. I, along with a couple of others on this board, are in a Philly Hoops pool that has over 240 brackets that people have submitted at $10 each. For the first time in the 4 years that I have participated in this pool, I am in the top 50 (currently 5th) and will finish in 3rd if Gonzaga wins. GO ZAGS!!!

How much is third place worth in that pool?

Only about $230. BUT that buys a decent amount of beer! So, I would be happy to come in 3rd place.

I like beer. and Gonzaga has a three point lead. I'm rooting for the Zags.

PL refs for the championship game. Unbelievable how they are ruining the game.

In that critical late jump ball, it looked to me like the Tar Heel was simultaneously touching the baseline and the ball...which means it should have gone to the Zags instead of being called a jump.
I thought One Shining Moment was very major-conference heavy this year. No Bison, and it seemed like very few other mid-majors got their shots in either. That really goes against what the whole song is about.

BRW, you are right. I yelled at the TV last night when that happened. I think that it cost me about $290 and lots of bragging rights!

Correction: I ended up losing one pool for about $230 and winning one for only $50. So, overall, I invested $20, had lots of fun, and won $50. I am fine with that!
GO BISON!!! (2017-2018 is going to be a GREAT season!)

It was even more blatant than I remembered.

It was one thing for the refs to miss it, but the CBS crew with all their vast resources did too. Sloppy, sloppy.

BRW, did the CBS crew miss it? I always wonder that. when there is a bad call do the announcers intentionally not mention it? Especially in a situation where they cannot change the call.

I didn't hear any mention on air. I don't think they shy away from bringing things like that up...I think they all just whiffed on it.

Mount St. Mary's leading scorer Elijah Long is transferring. Big loss for the mount.

Yes, huge loss for them. Long made 1st team All-NEC as a sophomore. The Mount was slated to return their top seven players from a team that won both the regular season and the NEC Tournament.
For those who don't know, Long was a teammate of Kimbal Mackenzie at John Carroll. He is also from Ontario. For some reason he was lightly recruited out of HS. His brother played for Iowa State recently, but I don't know if his game s quite at that level. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

His light recruitment was due to an injury. I believe he verbally committed to FGCU his junior year, but that was derailed for one reason or another. MSM picked him up and he certainly helped put them on the map again.

Long just committed to Texas to play for Jamion Christian's mentor Shaka Smart. It's interesting that Kimbal Mackenzie was generally viewed as the better player when they were HS teammates.

MSM has been decimated over the past month. At the end of the season, they figured to have their top 8 players returning for a team that won the NEC regular season and tournament. Instead three of their five starters, plus two benchwarmers, have announced they are transferring. In addition to Long, they have apparently lost freshman wing Miles Wilson, who was one of the NEC's top rookies and who averaged 14 ppg and 8 rpg in five postseason games. Wilson already has picked up a PSU offer. Also they lost 6-9 soph starter Mawdo Sallah, who already signed with CAA champs UNCW, who won 29 games this season.
For some perspective on the loss to MSM, the three starters who have left all quickly got offers from teams ranked among the 87 best in the nation (Pomeroy). Jamion Christian seems to have a good reputation; the Mount plays what seems to be a fun style; the team was successful; they had a very bright future; and they have a good fan base. I wonder what caused this deluge of transfers.

Kimbal may very well be the best player on the team next season. (See WVU game)

Kimbal has worked very hard with John Griffin on honing his game. He has a chance in the next 2 years to be very special.

This entire team has a chance to be very special. The quality and depth of returning talent is scary. And I don't see it falling off much even when Nana, Zach, and Stephen graduate.
