Halftime, Cornell 44 Lafayette 32.

Best half of the season, by far.

Good offensive movement, good defense. Donovan Wright has 17 points, going 5-6 from three. Robert Hatter with 8. Gettings only has 4 points, but has 5 assists and is starting to get the hang of Earl's system.

Overall, the team is shooting 58% and 57% from three (8-13). 11 assists to 5 turnovers.

The game was close within the first four to five minutes. Over the next 7 minutes, Cornell went on an 18-2 run. Eventually, the Red opened up a 19 point lead with 6 minutes to go.

Unfortunately, Cornell let up a bit the rest of the half. Lafayette went on a 15-8 run to get the deficit down to 12.

Wright and Warren have two fouls.

Darryl Smith, who has been missing for most of the season, played several minutes of the first half.

Lafayette shot 48% overall, 56% (9-16) from three and 67% (10-15) for free throws.

Teams were tied for total rebounding.
Cornell 33 (7 offensive; 26 defensive)
Lafayette 33 (8 offensive; 25 defensive)

Cornell had 19 assists and 10 turnovers

Good ball movement was key to getting open looks from three. Wright, Gettings and Fallas were the main players, going 13-19 from three.

The defense was better, especially in the first half as they broke open a close game to take a 19 point lead.

Team's first win and Coach Earl's first career victory.

Somewhat relieved for Coach Earl. I am sure that first win is sweet for him and his staff. While he was notching that first win his former team, the Tigers, was losing to a very good Lehigh team at Stabler. Cornell's win adds to the pressure on Henderson who will be looking for the Tigers' first win at Lafayette Wednesday night. Last season the Tigers snuck by the Leopards, at Jadwin on the night before Thanksgiving, 104-52.

Only saw a set of highlights, but Stone seems to be thriving in Coach Earl's system. Morgan, Gettings and Wright could be the nucleus for an interesting Ivy team in the next three years.

Add Warren and 2017 recruit Jake Kuhn to the mix, as well.

Kuhn is a 6' 6" wing guard who chose Cornell over Air Force, Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis (PA), Maine, New Hampshire, NJIT and Yale.

- Enter Earl, a former player and assistant coach at Princeton, who was hired last spring and will bring the unique perimeter style his alma mater is known for.

“The way he wants to play really fits my strengths,” Kuhn said. “They’re gonna run a lot of four-out, one-in stuff, kind of hybrid Princeton style, playing off the high post, reading and reacting, not having many set plays, just teaching the right way to play.”
