Unfortunately we find ourselves at the bottom of this week's Ivy power rankings.

Ivy Power Rankings – Nov. 21, 2016

8. Dartmouth (0-2)

Dartmouth needs to defeat Marist and Longwood in its next two games to prove it’s got any sort of solid base to build on in year one under David McLaughlin. The Big Green’s offense is turnover-prone and lacks any outside shooting presence. It’s actually junior guard Taylor Johnson, not sophomore forward and defending Ivy Rookie of the Year Evan Boudreaux, who leads the team in usage, and Johnson has been inefficient and turnover-prone himself thus far.

I'm confident that there is a combination of players and offensive and defensive adjustments that we can make for the positive. We still have two Ivy ROY. Once Miles gets his groove back and Evan can get some space to operate, things will turn.

There has to be some adjustment period for a new coach and team. Coach MacLaughlin had a salient point in that you can't truly simulate a URI in practice. Somethings you have to experience first hand. It may take a lot of the non conference games to work out who they are as a team. If that is the case then we should be in a good place during league play. But I think Ivy Hoops Online is right, there are some games coming up that we should win and must win.

Ranking are what they are so there is always another take. Here are NYC Buckets Power Rankings. They have the Big Green at #6!

NYC Buckets Power Rankings:

6. Dartmouth — Rhode Island is great, and Fairfield is good, so a pair of blowout losses aren’t the end of the world. But the Big Green’s start hasn’t been encouraging: Evan Boudreaux doesn’t have enough help on offense, forcing him into contested shots from the post, and Dartmouth’s perimeter defense is still brutal. They should pick up their first win against Marist or at Longwood, but those are followed by three tough road games before the schedule turns soft again.

We have the talent to be competitive with URI (look at Brown vs URI) and with Fairfield (we were favored to win at home according to Kenpom)

We have looked awful and weren't at all competitive

But let's keep our heads

This is a good team, and Coach Mac has been successful everywhere else he has been

The season is a marathon not a sprint. The new coach is trying a new system with the guys. Sometimes it takes trial and error and experimentation

We should at least postpone worry til mid season!

I think these guys have the potential to be pretty good! I anticipate them getting better as the nocon schedule goes on. They should be coming together by league.
