Projected Starters:
Morgan, Hatter, Fallas, Wright and Gettings.

It would appear that Wright's injury from the Monmouth game was not significant. However, David Onuorah looks to be out for his fourth straight game. No word on what is his problem and how long he will be out.

Houston Game Notes:

Cornell was ranked #7 in Ivy League pre-season poll. Presently, the team is ranked #230 at KenPom.
Houston was ranked as the #4 team in the American Athletic Conference. Presenty, the Cougars have a #63 KenPom ranking.

Houston is led by All-American Conference pre-season picks Damyean Dotson and Rob Gray, Jr. Gray is averaging 19.8 ppg, and Dotson is averaging 14.5 ppg. Devin Davis is the team's leading rebounder at 9.0 a game. Galen Robinson, Jr., who had over 100 assists last year is leading the team with 6.5 a game.

The Cougars are averaging 85.8 ppg and giving up 59.2. They get 38.0 rebounds a game and allow 30.0. They shoot 51% from the field, including 47% from three. They average 19.8 assists a game and only allow its opponents 8.3. The team averages a low of 8.5 turnovers a game, while forcing 13.3.

Since Houston can put up lots of points efficiently, rebounds well, and has a very good defense, this looks to be a really rough afternoon for the Red. At least the team will have some family in the stands for Houston area seniors Robert Hatter and Desmond Fleming, and a chance at selfies with the Big E.

Starting lineup has Morgan, Hatter, Fallas, Bathurst and Gettings. Looks like Onuorah and Wright are out.

Warren and Bayless are next on the front court depth chart.

Should be a brutal game for the Red.

Cornell got blown out, 83-53.

Houston ran out to a 12-0 start and 26-2 lead with 7:45 to go in the first half. Morgan had 14, Fallas scored 6 and Hatter had 4 the rest of the half to make it 45-26.

The second half did not go any better as the Cougars ended up with a 30 point victory.

Two silver linings:
1 - Matt Morgan had a good offensive night after two subpar performances. 23 points (8-19 overall and 5-13 from three).

2- The team had its best free throw shooting game of the season (15-18).

No surprise that this was a blowout game. The concern going forward is the injury to Donovan Wright, added to the unknown illness for David Onuorah and the continued absence of Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof. With only two front court players that are in the rotation, Gettings and Warren, the team will have to continue going with the four guard lineup it had today. For a team that struggles with offensive output and rebounding from its low post players, this will provide an even greater challenge for the Red. Hopefully, these injured players will be back shortly.

Cornell probably isn't beating Houston with a complete roster, but the Red had no chance with only two true forwards. Throw in bad games by Stone and Hatter, and it's a good think the Cougars called off the dogs (cats?) at 26-2.

The advanced metrics on this team are better than last year, even at 1-5. They are more efficient on offense an defense. They are actually rebounding better than last year; which should tell you how brutal they were last year. They aren't hitting threes very well, but Hatter won't shoot 11 percent all season. (I mean, he won't will he?). They just need to get healthy.
