Is Meisner injured or sick?

The Lions ended the downward spiral of late with a blowout 84-42 victory over a Division III opponent that could not size up with the LIons' size and athleticism. Most important, some of the bad kharma of late may have been replaced by the positive feelings that inevitably result from any victory even an almost inevitable one. In particular, the most positive aspect of this game, was that the Lions played with lots of enthusiasm and smarts so the concern some of us had that something was going on behind the scenes turned out to be a non-issue. After that, many of things mentioned on the Board were confirmed such as the need to recognize that the Lions needed stronger play under the boards for numerous reasons including of course to free up Luke Petrasek for what he does best which is to play away from the basket. Today, that role was taken by committee, with Jeff Coby Patrick Tape and Connor Voss all taking turns down below which freed Luke to score at will away from the basket. Another positive emanating from today's game was the fine play of CJ Davis who ran the offense to perfection. And still another positive was the hot shooting and altogether good play of Quinton Adlesh who is growing into a weapon for the Lions. Andrew Pantayaou also looked like a Player in his first time on the floor. Finally, as Sal Licata noted, Patrick Tape can really help the Lions because of his size and ability to play with his back to the basket.

The positives that you list were all there. Tape, Panayiotou, and Voss all played pretty well. Of course, the question is whether how much of the good we saw this afternoon evaporates in the face of better opposition.

I asked around about why Meisner did not dress. Apparently, he pulled a muscle in his back during the Navy game. It is not serious, and since we have until 12/28 off, he should recover in plenty of time.

That's good news about Meisner. Panayiotou looked very good all around - hit a couple of threes, handled the ball well and played solid defense. He also has good size and is athletic.

Good news about Meisner. Why are Rodney's minutes disappearing? He barely saw any time today.

Maybe just because Engels wanted to give other players further down the bench some time?

Although Rodney is very athletic and has made some really nice moves around the basket, the other possible explanation is that he doesn't shoot much from outside. Until he diversifies his game, his minutes may be limited.

Meanwhile, the Lady Lions are 7-2 under a new coach, Megan Griffith who is playing three bigs and winning consistently. Of course, it helps to have a great player like Camille Zimmerman on your team.

Yes, Megan seems to be a good coach, and she caught Columbia with Zimmerman on the upswing. But even at 7-2, Kyle Smith is now doing her one better. At San Francisco, he's 7-1.

Just noticed that many of CU's big men graduate this year -- Petrasek, Coby, Voss and McComber. Any word on Eberle? I don't recall him getting on the floor during the Manhattanville game.

I looked for Eberle at the game. He was sitting on the bench next to Meisner and Castlin, none of whom was dressed for action. It's been a long time since we have heard anything about him.

Although it is true that we lose four big men, Petrasek is only one who has seen major minutes, and he will be replaced by Faulds who registered 16 pts, 15 rbbs, 6 assists, and 3 blocks in his most recent outing.
