The key component you seem to be forgetting is that Princeton sucks.

I can't seem to find it in his blog, though I didn't search very hard. I'll continue to look for it, though.

I think if Watson had come to Penn Allen would still be gone. Jerome is a great, truly inspiring human being and was a wonderful player for Penn. But as Penn's basketball coach he was completely incompetent. He had plenty of talent to work with during his tenure and he squandered every bit of it. He would have wasted Watson as well.

I agree on all of those fronts. I hope my kids grow up to be people like Allen. But I hope Penn's basketball coach is much better. But watching the video made me think that Watson could have been like Rosen. Someone who can put the team on his back through force of will. Allen wouldn't have been fired if we had seasons like Rosen's senior year every year. An all Big-East point guard should be able to make some noise in the Ivies. I think he would have been a senior this year at Penn.

He sat out a year when he transferred from BU to Creighton. He would have been a senior last year if he came to Penn.

But it was so much more than just Zack that year. He also had Dan L (perhaps Jerome's biggest loss) and Mike M running things. How the AD was worried about SMU stealing Jerome and couldn't see what was coming still boggles the mind.

Sounds like a solid basis for a doctoral thesis.

Wow that's terrible news and he was having a great year. Also comes at a time when he was probably thinking of playing overseas so could hurt a variety of ways. Hope it works out for him.

Can someone email this article to the athletic and/or admissions folks at Penn so that they can see what idiots they have been?
