So we are celebrating AJ's fantastic frosh year by going on a massive tangent? Haha. Love the trip down memory lane but let's get this thread back on track.

Agree with previous thoughts that most impressive aspect is that he can confidentllay hit the 3. Coach Donahue had mentioned that would be coming but I didn't expect it so soon. A few of those shots from the La Salle game were key and I was surprised he shot them so quickly.

If he can be a real threat for 3, defenders won't be able to back off and then he can put the ball on the floor (which he can also do surprising well). If he can get that FT shooting where it needs to be he could be scary good.

He's already proving he can hit the 3, and he is still a freshman... not a stretch that some of that improvement can come quickly.

That's just on O. On D he already has elevated our team with rebounding and blocked or altered shots. Pair him with Jarrod Simmons and that's some real hope right there.

No opponent the rest of the way is going to play AJ the way LaSalle played him. They are going to double him from different places and eliminate the play side passing lanes. He will have to learn to throw the skip pass and/or anticipate the double team and beat it.

That sends us back to our ability to hit shots...

Obviously, if he starts hitting treys consistently that is going to be an Excedrin headache defensively for opponents, especially opponents who have big guys in the post (who usually don't like to come out to guard) and fairly short guys on the perimeter. Even a switch doesn't do much good when the shooter is three to five inches taller than the defender and the latter has to come over to close out.

The 5 players with the best 3FG% are Brodeur, Howard, Betley, Wood, Foreman.

A reason to roll the dice with Wood over Glue or Donahue.

Particularly if last night turns out not have been an aberration, and Wood really has stopped being a turnover machine.

We can dream.

Yeah... some of those TOs are absolute killers from Wood but honestly I think we do have to roll the dice and start Wood over MacDonald. I think MacDonald can still get plenty of time coming off the bench, but I think we need that shooting or teams can continue to double the inside without much punishment.

I'd still like to see time off bench from Goodman to fill in for point minutes or when we press on def. I believe he actually shot at a good % last year in HS also so maybe that shooting will come around.

LaSalle hosts Richmond on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.

What does this have to do with A.J. Brodeur?

Richmond has a center, T.J. Cline (good blood lines). T.J. is everything we should hope A.J. becomes by the time of his senior year. Cline is fun to watch.

Here is a link to the LaSalle video feed. I hope there is not a fee to watch the game.

The LaSalle video feed is live and free. The link is in the previous post.

Enjoy watching T.J. Cline - role model for A.J. Brodeur.
