Time to strap in for one last shot at a good non-conference win. I even put on my PU socks for this one. Stick it to Philip Roth's alma mater! Goodbye Lewisburg!

I sometimes complain about long lags in recording scores visually on the ILDN broadcasts, but these folks at Bucknell for the PLN are really taking their time. You can go all the way through two possessions before the score is updated.

MH has the Tigers applying ball pressure out of the man-to-man and the zone, and it seems to be bothering Bucknell a lot, as they turn it over and take some tough shots, but their guy Zack Thomas is very good and they lead by two after a number of Tiger misses on very good looks.

Nice spurt to get to a 26-19 lead forces a Bucknell timeout. Bell with a nice drive to get the latest basket.

Pretty good first half, ending up with an eight-point lead. Lots of good ball pressure and shot blocks, excellent rebounding, good ball movement on offense and a slight Bell renaissance, as well as good play by Brennan and a cameo by our freshman from Ewing who showed a beautiful arc on his two made free throws.

Stephens the best player on the court so far in this game, Weisz struggling a bit with his shooting (and some of his better passes leading to missed shots).

Unlike other games the Tigers have led, they look a lot more confident and steady this time. Let's hope that holds up all the way through.

Up 13 with less than twelve minutes left, but the Bison are already in the bonus. Brennan and Miller each have three fouls, and Aririguzoh frisky but foul-prone too.

Up 8 with 7:49 left. Some tough foul calls on the Tigers but the Bison have been poor from the FT line. Weisz committing uncharacteristic TOs and bricking some open shots. Cook woke up a bit and has been putting the pressure on Bucknell's D.

Still up 8 with 1:29 left. Some key scoring down the stretch from Stephens and Cook, though the latter missed a couple of front-ends and some easy-looking five-footers. Aririguzoh with a big block on Thomas.

Despite two bad fouls and some surprising neglect of the other team's three-point specialist, the Tigers hold on to win with Cannady's FTs. Unusual to win when PU gets out-treyed like that and relies on their inside game to put it away.

Cook's free throw misses, and a couple of dumb fouls by Weisz and Bell made this one close, but we squeaked by with the win.

Tigers defense and rebounding was reasonably good although Bucknell is not the most talented squad. I thought that the Tigers played an overall better game against Monmouth. They came out flat over the first 10 minutes. They shot so much better against Monmouth.

Miller only played 3 minutes although he had foul trouble but he is the dog house. Brennan and Arirguzoh were ok. Gladson?? Cook, Cannady, Stephens and Weisz remain the consistent performers.

Tigers should easily win the next two games and enter league play with a disappointing 7-6 record. Needed to be 9-3 with 2 quality wins to have a chance for a 2nd Ivy bid. Next five games are at home including Penn, Brown and Yale.

Miller acquired three fouls in three minutes, two of which were silly reach-ins. The dog house appears to be of his own construction.

Brennan showed a proclivity to crash into bodies as he crashed the boards, but otherwise was aggressive and quick.

Aririguzoh surprised me. He wants the ball down low and posts up really well--he's a great target. He made his two foul shots--not sure one can extrapolate much from such a small sample size, but when is the last time Miller made 2?.

Gladson was guarded pretty closely on the switches. Not really any open looks. In fact the perimeter D of Bucknell was pretty good.

The difference in the game was Stephens in the low post. He's better in that regard than Caruso, and as he gets more PT, the team is learning how to use his skills better.

We can't close! THREE clunkers on front end of one and ones while Bucknell offense finally heated up. They started hitting threes like guided missiles. We very nearly blew a 15 point lead. Another minute or two and we might have lost another.

You are right that the Tigers cannot close but some of the 3 pointers hit by Bucknell over the last 3 minutes were crazy heaves.

One gets the feeling that there is really bad karma going on with Princeton this year unlike last year. The Basketball Gods have not been kind -- collapses, injuries, etc. You make your own good fortune but some of what has been transpired is hard to describe.

You look at this team with Cook, Cannady, Stephens with Weisz as the orchestra leader and it looks like a very different type of Princeton team as to athleticism but having a team with very good athletes does not guarantee success. Let's see if the B Gods will be merciful during the IL season with better play by the Tigers.

I think we need two things to happen to win ivies and maybe even win a game or two in ncaa. Amir Bell has to continue to work his way back to the form we've seen in the past, both offensively and defensively - this quite possible, if not probable. Second, we need to get something from our center(s). Goodness gracious, they have been no threat whatsoever on offense, and rebounding stats are pretty abysmal.
Looking back at really good Princeton teams of the past, they always had an effective center - Mueller, Goodrich, Young, and even guys like Walton, Hielsher(sp?), Simkus, and Roma were above average.
Unfortunately I don't see much likelihood of one of our current group developing into an offensive threat this season. But I'll keep hoping.

Ha - point taken, although, without checking, I would guess Simkus had better stats than any current post man.

I'm betting on Aririguzoh for the future (i.e. after this season). I like his name and his long arms.

Certainly interesting to see him get in the bucknell game, and as I think someone else pointed out, he actually seems to want the ball in the low post. He and /or Gladson might well be the answer. Miller had big game last yr at Columbia, and Brennan has a nice touch and pretty good athleticism, - all our bigs seem to have to have the tools to be good. So frustrating that that it hasn't happened
