Cornell lost to in-state rival Syracuse for the 37th consecutive time last night. The Red played well for the first several minutes to take a 15-12 lead with 12:34 to go in the first half. The Orange would then go a 30-10 run to take a 42-15 lead into the locker room.

Cornell seemed to be controlling the pace over the first 15 minutes, when a Matt Morgan layup got the team to 25-20 with just under 5 minutes to go. A powerful Tyler Roberson dunk, http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2016/12/27/... ignited Syracuse to pick up the tempo and score 17 points in the remaining few minutes of the half.

Syracuse opened up a 30 point lead with 7 minutes to go and coasted for the 24 point victory.

Cornell's offense was concentrating heavily on the three. After making 3 of its first 6, the team went 0-8 the rest of the half. They ended up going 3-10 in the second half for a total of 6-24 (25%). They shot 42% overall and went 2-4 from the free throw line.

Syracuse shot 45% from the field, including 39% from three (9-23), and 77% from the charity stripe (13-17). They outrebounded Cornell 41-32, including 12-6 on the offensive side.

Troy Whiteside had 13 points and 6 assists, and Matt Morgan added 10 points. Stone Gettings only scored 2 points, but had 9 rebounds.

David Onuorah and Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof are still out with no reported time for return. Donovan Wright did not play last night.

After last night'g game, the Red are in the top 30 in three point attempts (26.2) and top 65 in three pointers made (8.8). They are in the bottom 25 in non-team offensive rebounds (6.2) and offensive rebound % (18.8%), but are in the top 85 in non-team defensive rebounds (25.3) and defensive rebound % (75.1%).

Cornell is also in the bottom 35 for FT attempted (16.2), FT made (10.8), steals (4.4), opponent's first half points (39.4), opponent's turnovers (10.3), and opponent's blocks (4.8).

Next up for Cornell (KenPom #250) is a home contest against UMass-Lowell (KenPom #283) on Thursday the 29th.
