Dartmouth vs CSU Bakersfield Preview

It's a little premature to say the Big Green have turned the corner, but are definitely rounding the bend!!!

Three in a row makes for a solid December stand. It's not hard to see that the Big Green has talent, which was the cause of much consternation from us few who bleed green. But, the coach and players have not lost focus, and that is all that matters as they are the ones who play the games. 3 W's in a row is as much a dream as the 9 L's in a row was untenable. Somewhere in between is where the Green really are. So the rankings above need to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of what went into the numbers is in the past and it is unlikely that the coach and the players have any intention of returning to the early season "muck".

The Freshman are beginning to get their D1 legs and finding that they can play. Evan is the epitome of consistency while Guilien and Miles are settling into their grooves. The other upperclassmen seem to settling into their roles. The team as a whole never seems too high or low, which is probably where you want them to be. This was never more evident than in the last possession in the UNH game where the star player didn't force a play, but passed to the freshman who confidently nailed what would be the game winner. It would appear that the Green are trusting the process and it is finally paying dividends that us outside observers can quantify.

I say all this to say that as much as I delve into the rankings and stats, there's more to what wins games going forward than a look back at the numbers suggests.

Go Big Green beat Bakersfield!!!

Tough matchup for the Big Green.

Looking at the stats, CSUB rebounds really well, especially on the offensive end. They are one of the top 5 teams in the country with respect to Opponent's 2 PT FG%. Defensively, they are one of the top teams for steals and forcing turnovers, as well. However, they are one of the worst teams with regards to committing fouls.

If Dartmouth cannot put up a high number and percentage of three pointers, the team is going to have to win this one at the free throw line.

Came up a little short against a good team.

Boudreaux had a bad game behind the three-point line. If a few had gone in, might have been a different ballgame.

CSUB gang rebounded and got down the court way faster we did. We did well to keep pace. You're right a couple more made 3's and it's a different outcome.

All-in-all we were very competitive if this momentum carries into league play we will have a shot at the top 4. I saw where NewYorkBuckets.com raised us back to 6 heading into league play.
