dartmouth @ HARVARD: Efficiency & Stats

Home games mean local coverage for The Big Green. Opening up the Valley News to the sports section gives fans Tris Wykes take on the game. Here's a link to the electronic copy for those who don't get the paper:

Big Green Suffers a Crimson Cakewalk

The Green got done in by H's talented youth movement. Wykes surmises that it might be a while before the Green can topple the Crimson.

Kevin Durant is quoted saying, "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard." Harvard brought both ingredients to Hanover yesterday.

In KenPom's 1/13/17 blog entry he comments on the upcoming Dartmouth Harvard tilt. He came to the same conclusion I did but with some hyperbole. He said this is going to be the most scouted game in history. He was referring to the fact that the Green Played Harvard already, had a 2 week break, and Harvard played a common opponent in the interim.

This is a benchmark game. We will see where the program is, current record included. We'll see what type of tactician coach is. We should be more competitive than the first outting. Anything less will be a huge disappointment. KenPom has has the Green losing by 15 vs 16 in the first go-round. In the past several years the Green were able to split these 2 games. That might be a herculean task to get that W this year, but improving over the first game will a positive.

The Big Green executed their plan which involved defending the post. They had a lead going into the half and got great production out of Wes! Overall you can see the improvement.

Considering they were playing on Harvard's home court a win was tough ask but they had a much better showing than that first outing.

Barry is really emerging, isn't he? It's great to see. We have such good talent. At 3-12, the year isn't a wash yet. If we can win the games we should with maybe a few others on the side, we will still find ourselves in the tourney. With the way the program has responded to change this year, though, I am beginning to wish it was an 8-team tourney.

We looked pretty good yesterday. Wes looked great, and Johnson had that nifty pass to him for the reverse put back. It looked like Div 1 college basketball!!! The guys looked more relaxed less mechanical. We finally got to see Stakeliunas and Foye touch the floor!!! That's a game you can build on. Nice adjustment by Coach Mac, give credit where credit is due.

Bring on Columbia. Go Big Green!!!

I've been avoiding saying it because I'm a big proponent of our young players getting PT, but with 1-19 or .053 shooting from 3pt, Sistare shouldn't take another 3pt shot, it's clearly not part of his game. It's decimating his shooting percentage.

Looks like he shot 41% (56-137) at Northfield Mt. Hermon last year.

Must be the difference between college and prep school? That's a HUGE fall-off.
