Brown has one more win, 9-7, than all of last year although their schedule has been very weak, #347.
They play at a quick pace and they have a very high FG, 3pt and FT%. Three seniors, Spieth-Blackmon-Hobbie, lead the way. Spieth's offensive game has really improved and he would be a top 5 candidate for IL POY based on current stats. Hobbie shoots at a ridiculous 53% 3pt percentage. They do not have much of an interior game and they do turn the ball over.
They are not a very good defensive or rebounding team. Weisz will probably be whipping passes to wide open 3 pt shooters and Miller should be set up screens to free up Cannady, Cook and Weisz. Coach needs to have someone stay like glue on Hobbie, Stepehsn/Cook will probably switch on Spieth, and Cannady needs to play better defense on PG than he played against Penn.
Seems like a reasonably good match up for the Tigers although both teams are reliant on 3 pt shooting which is always a wild card and Brown can shoot. Other question mark will the Tigers be thinking about Yale on Friday night -- hopefully not. Game should be more competitive than prior years --- just a guess.

16 1/2 pt favorite seems somewhat excessive. Tigers have not been able to bury teams this year. Three seniors on Brown may keep it closer than Vegas thinks.
As surprising, Yale is 1 1/2 pt underdog to Penn. Bulldogs seem to get little respect despite their results and play. Go figure.

The odds may assume that Princeton crushes Brown inside and on the boards, getting lots of ORs and getting lots of TOs from them to put up a lot more shots. (Also, Brown's FG% allowed is kind of high.) Imperative to keep playing D and not just count on outscoring them.

Brown took a page from the Tigers and doubled down. Not one but two of those nine wins are against non DI schools.

Oh snap!
I like Penn over Yale. Penn almost beat us on the road. Yale is about the same strength as us, and Penn is at home.
And maybe the refs won't screw Penn this time

Yale/Penn game should be a good one and competitive. I have a different perspective as to the outcome as I think that Yale is very much underrated but anything can happen in one game.
Oni and Bruner are very talented players with the base of Downey, Dallier, Reynolds, Copeland and Phils plus they play defense and rebound. I would not be the least bit surprised if the Yale/Princeton game will be the toughest home game of the season.
Penn is certainly on the road back and will be a far different team than what they have been over the last number of years. Between the Division III game and playing Penn, Brown and Dartmouth, and Cornell, the Tigers started the season with eight or nine wins. Some of those "wins" will probably be tougher down the road.

Good first half versus Brown, although I hate it when they get casual after the lead exceeds 20. Put your foot on their neck!
Bell and company able to drive through Brown's man defense like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Their zones have been more stalwart, but there are lots of holes to exploit.

Lead now 62-35 early in the second after the Tigers force three consecutive turnovers and Cannady explodes while Stephens gets a fast-break layup. I would so love for them to really put the hammer down now and turn it into a blowout, just to get out of the habit of letting the other team back in.

Up 33 with 8:04 left. Cannady 7-9 from three, Bell also bombing away, Brennan blocking shots. Pretty much a fan's dream. MH calls timeout and I think the backups are going to bring this one in for a landing.

Brennan and Gladson looking pretty good together in garbage time. LeBlanc moving well without the ball and gets a block. Lead holding up very nicely. Only about 3:00 left.

Very solid performance by the Tigers although it was a good match up for them. It was interesting to watch Cook and Spieth face off and although Cook got in foul trouble in the first half for the second straight game, he clearly has a greater skill level offensively and defensively.
Cannady was simply crazy good -- should have saved some shots for tomorrow night. Miller and Bell continue to come to life. Stephens was outstanding and Weisz is simply reliable. Cannady and Stephens are probably the best sophomore tandem in the league. Where was this offense at the beginning of the year? Defense has actually been reasonably consistent throughout the year with a few exceptions.
Great game on tab for tomorrow night -- hopefully a big turnout. Yale overpowered Penn tonight -- some continue to underestimate Yale -- why?. Oni and Bruner are so talented with so much upside and Copeland is a scorer. Bulldogs are very tough on the boards and play tough defense. Imagine if they had Mason. 50-50 game tomorrow night? Who makes 3 pt shots in a tough defensive battle?

I love Cannady's confidence and joie de vive out there. That shot is very pretty.
In other nice-looking shot news, Miller's FTs have been beautiful high-arcing splashes in the last couple of games. Hope that's a trend.

It will be interesting to see how much 1-3-1 zone that Yale utilizes with Bruner at the top. Bruner plays like Cook at the top with the added advantage of being 3" taller with a longer wing span. Oniand Bruner can block shots. Last night, both came off the bench but perhaps they start tonight.
In all likelihood, Tigers will be able to defend as Yale is a good but not great offensive team. They shoot 3s' slightly better than Tigers but shoot less of them. Oni, Copeland and Dallier can shoot 3s'. Their strengths are rebounding and defense and being tough.
Tigers need to keep moving the ball and they will ultimately get looks although Yale charges out to the shooter. May need to fake some shots and then reset for 3 pt shot, which is tough, or drive to the basket and give somebody else an open look as Yale switches.
They may be playing each other two more times after tonight so hopefully, Mitch learns how to play them.

Aggravating start with lots of missed bunnies and open treys. The Tigers look a bit anxious to me, but two pretty backdoors assuage my qualms a tad. Yale can really shoot the ball.

Entertaining, tense, low-scoring first half with 3:00 or so left. Tigers finally get the lead after a series of steals and blocks on D trigger their offense. Stephens and Cook are seizing the day, Weisz and Cannady facilitating. D is doing a fine job on Downey and Reynolds.
Yale's Bruner is scary good. Oni is saddled with two fouls and has missed a lot after hitting one open trey early.

Bell's buzzer-beating coast-to-coast layup puts PU up 2 at the half. Yale lucky to be in the game, given that the Tigers are 1-15 from three with almost all of them routine open looks.

Not from where this neutral observer sits. Probably looking at the two teams playing on a March Sunday in the Palestra. Yale is tough--teams are very evenly matched.
