If NYCHOOPS is around I'm wondering if Dwayne Cohill is one those players you were referring to that we're involved with? I've heard he has legitimate interest.

[furiously googles Dwayne Cohill]
Yeah, that'll do. If we have a chance.

He's 16. Also looks like he's being pursued by multiple majors.
Will wait for those in the know to clue us in.

FYI looks like Simmons team won and he scored 21. Didn't watch but also seems to be available to watch VOD now.

If the announcers were accurate, Jarrod had 21 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
I will try to post the link for his team's next round playoff game.

He had two blocks in the first quarter alone and then I stopped watching. He certainly has mastered the explosive high school drive to the hoop. Next year is certainly going to be interesting.

Thanks to Stuart Suss for forwarding the game link. I just watched it. I sort of advanced quickly through it to skip timeouts and slow play - and missed some of the action.
My observations are that Simmons is a very athletic big. He reminds me very much of Koko Archibong as a Freshman or Sophomore. He has quickness, can run the floor, and has some pretty good skills. He scored on drives from the top of the key, made some post moves, and had a steal which he drove down the court for a slam. The area where I thought he was much stronger in than I expected was his passing. His passes were crisp and he had good vision.
The main concern I have for Simmons is that he didn't really show himself as a physical presence. He was 2-3 inches taller than anyone on the floor, and he picked his spots as to when to impose himself on the game. He didn't have a constant motor, didn't seek contact on rebounds, and didn't box out that well. At 6'8 or so, he won't be the tallest guy on the floor in the ivies, and I'm not sure if he'll be ready to fill that starting slot.
My suggestions for him would be
1) always have his hands up on defense. It makes an amazing difference in clogging up the passing lanes, stopping penetration, and creating position on rebounds. Even when resting, just keep those hands up!
2) Gain a lot of glute and upper body strength. Simmons is not physical enough yet to be a starter in the Ivies. He had a ton of rebounds in the game, but he would not be a rebounding force in the ivies right now. AJ is going to kill him in practice unless he gets way more physical and active.
3) Be a lot more aggressive. He was a star of the game, but he showed skills and athleticism to be even more of a force.
Simmons has great potential. I hope he has a growth curve and work ethic like Koko. While he doesn't look like an ivy starter today, he seems ahead of where Koko was as a Freshman. Simmons could be a bigger star if he works hard enough on his game.

As of now, it only appears that there is only audio, not video of Jarrod Simmons' game tonight. But, check this web site closer to the 8:00 pm tip off to see if any video link appears.

Big game for Jarrod Simmons in a win that puts them in the area final on Friday: 31 points, 19 rebounds and six blocked shots!
He was 3 inches taller that any opposing player but those are still big numbers.

Jarrod Simmons and his Moon team will play in the WPIAL final on Friday night at 9:00 pm. Once I find a link to the broadcast, I will post it here.
Moon will play Hampton who upset Robby Carmody's Mars team. However, regardless of the results of these games, both Moon and Mars will be playing in the statewide PIAA tournament.

Here is the link to tonight's Moon game. As of now, it looks like audio only as I do not see a link for any video.
The Post-Gazette preview article focuses on Jarrod.
The game tips off at 9:00 pm, so check the site after the Penn - Dartmouth game ends.

That's Robby Carmody next to Simmons in the Post-Gazette picture, right?
I liked what I saw in the few minutes I viewed of the last game. Agree with Penndemonium's assessment.

Some positive news to offset tonight's very disappointing result - Jarrod Simmons led his team to WPIAL championship tonight. Despite being focus of opposing team still had a heck of a stat line: 22 points, 21 rebounds, 8 blocks, 3 assists, 2 steals.
