Cornell rushed out to a 7-0 lead, before Boudreaux put Dartmouth on the board. After getting the lead down to 1 at 10-9, the Green stayed close through the 6:30 minute mark. After Sistare's bucket made the score, 20-18 in favor of the Red, Fallas and Bathurst hit back-to-back threes to move it to an 8 point lead. Morgan hit a three just before the buzzer to take a 35-23 lead into the locker room.

Cornell still held at 12 point lead with 12 minutes to go, before a 9-2 Dartmouth run got them within 5, 54-49, with 8:30 to go. The Red then went on a 7-1 run over the next 1:45 to get the lead up to 11. 6-6 free thrown shooting over the last few minutes helped Cornell keep its lead and win by 13.

Cornell had four players scoring in double digits. Morgan had 22 points (and 7 rebounds), Bathurst had 16 points (3 assists, 0 turnovers), Gettings had 15 points (and 7 rebounds), and Whiteside had 11 points (and 6 rebounds).

The Red shot 45% for the game. They shot 35% from three and made 8 treys, but the team went 2-9 in the second half. They made 13 of 15 free throws for 87%.

Cornell was even on the boards, 37-37. They had only 10 turnovers, 3 in the second half. They also had 17 assists on 27 baskets. They got 8 steals and put up 34 points in the paint.

Dartmouth was held to 41% overall shooting, 32% in the first half. The Green shot 19% from three (4-21), including 11% (1-9) in the first half. Coming into the game, the Green was the 2nd best free throw shooting team in the Ivies, but they went 10-17 (59%) on Saturday night.

Boudreaux had a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds. Smith scored 9 (all in the 2nd half), Barry had 8 (all in the first 12 minutes of the game) and Wright added 7 points.

Very informative post. To me it was impressive the way Cornell handled the boards against both opponents this week, outrebounding Harvard and staying even with Boudreaux. Turnovers and poor FT shooting hurt Friday, but Cornell did much better against the Big Green. Much different Cornell team than the one that started this season. It is no coincidence that the team is playing better with the offensive focus not on Hatter, although Earl believes the team practices much better when Hatter is there because of how hard he works all the time.

I would love another shot at Bingo and Colgate, as I think the Big Red would beat both now, but that's not the way the world works.

Interesting that Earl's crunch time line-up is often senior-free (Morgan, Whiteside, Bathurst, and two of Gettings, Warren and Gordon). Whiteside's growth into a solid starter has been great to see and Bathurst now has three straight games of double figures.

These guys are more fun to watch, especially on offense, but I think most of us were confident that Earl could coach. Now, we have to see if he can recruit.

With a reduced role for Hatter, the team has scored a similar amount, but has been much more efficient. They team has kept a similar three point FG%, but lessened the number of threes a game. They have been able to maintain their points per game through improved two point FG% and two pointers made.

Defensively, they are doing a much better job in guarding against three pointers and have knocked about 9 points off their opponent's average during the last few weeks.

They have been holding their own on the rebounds, mostly by an improvement in offensive rebounding percentage.

Their turnovers have increased during conference play, but they have also created more.

They have improved their FT% and FTs made only slightly during league play.

Overall, the team is playing a more cohesive style since the beginning of 2017. There is improved ball movement and they are taking advantage of the players' skills. The defense has also been stronger. If they can maintain those numbers, cut down the turnovers and improve the FT%, they certainly have the potential to make some noise during the rest of the conference schedule.
