First half showed huge rust for Tigers after their three-week layoff. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, blowing layups galore in the first five minutes, bricking open treys. Lucky to only be down by one at the half after Cannady finally looked like himself on a trey. Weisz has been the offensive force so far, Cook and Stephens active but not hitting too much.

Defensively, giving up over 50% shooting to the Big Green is not good, although the Tigers had some nice blocks and steals. Got to eliminate some of the drives into the lane. Maybe some aggressive zone would help.

Tied with 4:48 to go after PU scores on a possession with multiple ORs. Defense is still on and off, which means bad.

Now up 63-59 with 3:02 to go. D has picked up over the last set of possessions.

Well, pulled it out.

Other than Weisz and Stephens, definitely enough bricks to build a condominium.

Win it 69-64 with Cannady hitting all the needed FTs. If this were the NBA, I'd say good professional job of closing out an inferior team on the road when you're not playing that well. Even for a college team, the rust factor had to be there. And they did clamp down defensively down the stretch.

Weisz and Stephens carried the bulk of the scoring load. Cook had an astounding save-the-ball-whille-flyi ng-way-out-of-bounds play at a critical moment and was tough on the boards. Cannady was solid as PG; he is very responsible in that role and I wonder if it isn't hurting his offense.

Very disappointing performance. The rust is somewhat understandable but the lack of getting to loose balls and defensive complacency was troubling. Other than Weisz, Stephens and to a lesser degree Bell, the rest of the team's performance was not good, especially Cook and Cannady and Gladson was defensively brutal. Performance reminded me of some early non-conference games as to not showing enough fight and intensity.

Very fortunate to win this game and Weisz once again is the glue that keeps the team together.

Better take a bunch of practice shots pre-game tomorrow as the rims at Harvard may not be able to handle the bricks thrown up by Tigers' shooters. Ugly!!!!

Dartmouth announcers were actually very good.

Yeah, all the loose balls (especially in the first half) where the Tigers were bending over at the waist and reaching while the Dartmouth players were diving didn't look good. They pepped up a lot in the last quarter of the game, but that won't cut it against Harvard.

I kept waiting for Dartmouth to cool off and Princeton to take control. But every time it looked like Princeton might have a run, Dartmouth got a critical play. Tough game. Both teams hung in and played well.

I just watched the replay on ILDN and it was an ugly, grinding, away win for the Tigers. Against any other Ivy team that performance would have resulted in a loss. Princeton won because Weisz consistently was "the answer" (as dubbed by the very good home team commentator), they took care of the ball, and for the last 5 or so minutes of each half they played with great focus and effort and their superior talent and experience separated them from the Big Green.

Big concerns for me were a lack of ball movement (only 10 assists) and that the starters plus Bell played virtually the entire game. This was the first time I thought that they missed Henry Caruso, who often helped to break open games like this with gutsy put-backs and post moves. Princeton will need to channel the defensive intensity and offensive flow that they brought against Yale in order to raise their level tonight against Harvard.

Unfortunately, Coach had to play Weisz, Cannady, Cook and Stephens plus 35 minutes to win the Dartmouth game which may have spillover effect against Harvard and Penn. Other than Bell, no contribution from the bench.

First night in Ivies that they really missed Brase as he would have been on Boudreaux as Tigers centers strengths do not match up against Boudreaux. Coach could also use Brase tonight. Stephens has done an incredible job replacing Caruso.

I question MH's use of Miller. It seems like he is allowed one early shot, and if it misses he never sees the ball again in scoring position and doesn't get to play much. Maybe the thought was that all the bigs would need to play major minutes against Harvard and so needed rest.

As bradley pointed out, Gladson was easily beaten on D. I was hoping Aririguzoh would get a peek in the first half.
