"The Mountain Hawks could also end up as the No. 4 seed with a loss, a Navy win over Bucknell and Boston U. loss to Holy Cross that would create a three-team mini-conference, making Boston U. the No. 2 seed and Navy the No. 3 seed."
What in the world does that phrase mean?

It is a silly made-up term that appears nowhere in the bylaws. Just a convoluted way of saying the three would be tied and the records of the three against each other would determine the seeds. The PL frequently tries to be as unclear as possible.

Has anyone figured out the women's tie breakers? If I understand correctly, Navy would have the advantage if they win tomorrow.

Even if Navy wins, the Bison likely still have the edge. Since the two teams would have split (assuming a Navy win), that doesn't break the tie. And they would each have the same record vs American, Army, and Boston - the next three in the standings - so that alsowouldn't break it. But Bucknell has a better record against 6th place Colgate, so at the moment that would give the top seed to the Bison. Navy, however, has a better record against 7th place Holy Cross, so if HC passes CU, then Navy would prevail. If CU and HC were tied, it could come down to RPI - where the Bison would also prevail. Colgate's final two games are at Lafayette and at Lehigh. HC plays at Boson, followed by a home game with Loyola.
Of course there is another game after Saturdayfor the Bison and Navy. BU hosts Lafayette, who is in last place, while Navy hosts 3rd place American..

Thanks 137. I knew it was complicated. Colgate has an easier finish than HC. And, of course, Bucknell should have an easier time with Lafayette than Navy will have with American in the last game.

Hahaha...that's really quite a preposterous alternative to "three-way tie."

Still think Nathan Davis deserves COY over DeChellis. Preseason #3 three games clear of the second place team.

Agree. I would have voted for DeChellis a couple of weeks ago, but Navy's collapse down the stretch hurts his case a lot.

It's no contest. This is the second year in a row Navy has folded in the second half of the season.

Colgate and HC women both lost today, which means Bucknell holds the tie-breaker. Hopefully, we can beat Navy tonight and remove any doubt. Don't want it to come down to the last game even though it's against Lafayette. They managed to upset Colgate and played well in stretches on Wednesday.

I was just looking at the PL Tournament Bracket:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Patriot_Lea gu...
The potential Loyola vs. Boston U game could be an interesting game, and the winner of that game vs. Lehigh is a toss-up IMO especially if it is played in Boston.
A potential HC vs. Bucknell game in round #3 is concerning, but all things considered, I think that the Bison got everything that they could have asked for. They do not have to play Loyola, Boston U, or Lehigh until the Championship game.
Now, the Bison just need to buckle down and not look past any opponent.
GO BISON!

Is it a set bracket or does Bucknell get the lowest remaining seed in the quarters and semis?

I wish the league would consider even a slight staggering of the start times to give fans watching at home a better chance of flipping from ending to ending.

Wow. I think Army is going to be our toughest game. Once (or if) we get by them we should be ok until the finals where it is a toss up who we will be playing. Colgate is going to give Lehigh a good run and that should be a good game, if Lehigh gets by them I think they make the finals. Then we have to step up and beat them and we should. Army is going to be a tough crafty team giving our guys fits they could upset. Colgate could upset Lehigh. We are not as much as the favorites as I would like I fear Army, Colgate, or Lehigh. I would love to see Bucknell in the Big Dance and do feel they are the best Patriot league represent. Nana might step up and I get chills seeing Zach, Moore, Brown, Kimbal, Sestina and the others supporting him in the NCAA tournament. All this if we get by the quarterfinals and play well in the tournament.

Provided we win the conference tourney, which I am confident this great group of young men will take care of business, Bucknell will be a scary matchup as a 13 or 14 seed for any 3 or 4 seed.

Last week Palm had Bucknell a #15 playing Baylor....but obviously it is fluid. Seems that Bucknell could possibly be a #14 but I can't see them as a #13.
