Quick update here; the trend the last couple of weekends has not been a good one, particularly on offense. They have not managed to make 30% from three in any of the last four games, and the guards in general have not looked confident or effective in moving the ball or getting good shots except for Ross. On the New York trip, Agahyere had a breakout weekend, getting 35 points and winning Ivy Player of the Week from the bench, but this past weekend she was kept firmly in check. They had 36 turnovers combined against Brown and Yale, and were frankly lucky to escape with the win in Providence. I hope that McLaughlin is reading the riot act and working on the problems, because this is not the way you want to be playing going into the SEA. Frankly, even the #1 seed is not going to be a sure thing at this rate, with Princeton playing better (Harvard lost to Cornell this past weekend, so Princeton is now effectively in second.)
Stipanovich had two blocks over the weekend to tie the Ivy record; let’s see if she can get it done this weekend, and whether they can get better against a couple of teams that are trying very hard to stay in the race for the final playoff spot.

11-9 Penn after 1. Playing good defense and the Red not shooting well from outside so far, but again too many turnovers from Cornell both pressing and double-teaming aggressively down low. We're also not getting any good looks outside. Ashley Russell holding them in it with three tough finishes inside.

Winning 28-17 at half. Nwokedi made a couple of threes, and both she and Stipanovich have been making nice moves inside (if I didn't already mention it, Sydney has obviously been working hard on her post game since last year, because she really looks a lot better in there). Unfortunately, Cornell ended the half on a sour note by scoring on a inbounds lob into the lane with 1.3 left, but still, that was a much better quarter than anything last week.

Still up 11 after 3. We shot well at the beginning of the Q and pulled away, then Cornell started lighting it up from outside and came back, and then both teams stagnated for the last five minutes.

Penn wins by 13. Much better defensive effort than last week, as Nwokedi and Stip completely frustrated the Red inside, but still not as much offense as you'd like. They'll need at least one 60-point effort in the SEA, and most likely 2. Time for Russell to start over Brzozowski; completely outplayed her tonight.

Looking at the rest of the league, Brown fell in OT to Dartmouth, so they gain no ground over the Red, with a bit of light opening for Yale, who knocked off Harvard tonight. That latter result also makes it very clear that Princeton is still the biggest obstacle between us and the championship.
