If anyone had any doubt what he means to this team, look at the difference between halfs at Cornell.
Is there any update on how he's doing?
And thanks to Steve Donahue for allowing us to know the status of Matt and Max. He deserves credit just as much as the last 2 coaches deserved blame. Providing forthright information is a good thing.

It's more than just the coach though. Nothing from the DP either who didn't even mention it in their story. Is there some new rule? I still cannot believe the announcers went the entire half without realizing. How are we not yet able to sync up visiting announcers with home team video feeds?
As for Howard, I don't see how he plays tonight and that is just huge.

Matt's (and Max's) availability and impact underscores how important rebounding has been to our recent success. Matt in particular is the best insurance against getting beaten off the defensive boards as Cornell did. You can be sure Columbia will take note. My guess is that Hamilton will be called on to fill that gap and he is capable. Keep an eye on him tonight; also note Goodman is surprisingly effective on the D-boards as well with is ability to anticipate.

I'm not saying I disagree, and it will be something to watch, but most of the o-board damage last night was done in the first half when he did play. I'm not sure if him being out had an impact on Morgan going off, but it couldn't have helped. Steve has some tough decisions but I ageee he sees Tyler as the main option.

Point well taken about the first half last night but I know Matt was a matchup problem for Columbia here.
I could not watch last night. Can Anyone out there tell me what adjustments AJ made at halftime?. Seems he did all his work in the second half.

AJ missed 3-4 layups off one on one's in the first half. Second half he used his jump hook almost exclusively vs his up and under or scoop. He easily could have had 20. First half he was just slow. He was late to react on several layups he usually blocks too. Just an off night, which is tough with Max out. Tonight Max has fresh legs so AJ can just settle iin and do his thing.

They also took better advantage in the second half of the Cornell overplays and doubleteams with some back screens as well as back cuts by A.J. to free him.

Good point. SD has done a nice job incorporating some back screen and down screen action between AJ and 3 pt shooters. Sometimes AJ will down screen to free them for a 3 and other times, off the same action, the shooter (Betley, donahue, jones) will back screen to free Aj for a post touch on the switch. It's tough to guard when they run it well.

And have guys who make the correct pass. We're seeing so much more of that in this stretch. It is night and day from that Princeton game.

Matt Howard and Max Rothschild are expected to play for Penn. Lukas Meisner remains out for Columbia.
