It was great that the men's team was there. They were among the loudest and most vocal in Sojka. I'm not sure they all stormed the court, but I recall seeing all 13 of them there.

Likely student and community support will go long way in recruiting and keeping coach in place. Anyone know what the average attendance was past year? Impressed the men's team, Coach Davis and others there.

One of the referees in today's game was Joe Vaszily. He is regarded as one of the top five officials in women's basketball, and has refereed a game in at least the last three Final Fours. Also is frequently seen refereeing UConn's top out of conference games.

Talked to Joe at Semi on Friday, he was longtime PL ref with Denise Brooks, Bryan Brunette, Mark Zentz and they are all big sillies in womens officiating now...
Great game yesterday.. Glad Navy has at least WNIT to fall back on.. Aaron's team is going to be a nightmare for someone in a 4-13, 5-12 match up.. PL champs have shown up at MD multiple times last couple of years..

VoNS was right. Didn't Army play @ Maryland 3 years ago? You'd think they'd mix it up a little more.

And should we win, we get Elon (who we already played) or W Virginia. Coincidence?

Maryland is a very tough matchup. They are the top 3 seed, but should have been a 2. Ranked 3rd in the nation with a 30-2 record. Gave UConn a very tough game. They have 8 Mc Donald All Americans iirc. They were likely given a 3 seed as a lesson from the committee for playing a weak ooc schedule (except for UConn). The Bison are a 14 seed, which is what they deserved. On the women's side, there weren't nearly as many conference upsets, so BU didn't jump many teams.

Actually, Maryland is ranked 3rd (AP) and 4th (coaches). How does that get you a 3 seed? Would have much rather gotten FSU (10/13) or been a 15 playing Duke (9/9). All tough matchups, but c'mon!

It's a sucky matchup and a stretch win IMHO. Tough draw for our seniors

AP and Coaches polls have nothing to do with the analytics they use to seed teams. The chair on ESPN sounded about as clueless as could possibly be though when interviewed. Sad. Hoping to go to see the game, but, Navy plays at GW also Friday in WNIT.

I know Maryland's RPI is only 16, but Elon's is 21 and they're an 11 seed. Just hope we play well and keep the margin under 40.
Good luck to the Mids on Friday. Hope they can keep up their hot shooting.

Certainly the polls aren't one of the things looked at by the committee, but a lot of the factors considered by the voters should be the same as those used by the committee: quality wins, record, etc. fwiw, Maryland is much better than a 3 seed in Sagarin and Massey ratings as well, both of which use a team's entire body of work.
Agree about the cluelessness. The women's committee is far worse than the men's, and made several major blunders including breaking their own bracketing rules. Every year they screw up a few seeds badly. I think a lot of the members do no homework at all.
