One word! Overmatched!

Btw, how is it we have to play on the other teams home court?

They're looking like they're overwhelmed by the whole situation. Hopefully, DeBoer can get things going in the 2nd half. TO's have been our achilles heal all year, but they're deadly against a team like this.

That was tough to watch. Was hoping we'd keep them under 85 points and the margin under 30.

If there's a bright spot in all this, it's Gia Hayes. Hope she gets a lot more playing time next year with McGurk graduating. Hopefully, we can make it back next year and build on this experience.

Thank you Claire, Megan, and Sune for a great four years.

Congrats to Coach and the Girls on a great season. That was a really unfortunate match-up. That's the 3rd ranked team nationally with only 2 losses, one a very small margin to UConn. There is no way that is a 3 seed.

Thrilled to be a Bison after the past two days!

Just saw that Navy women beat GW in the 1st round of the WNIT (in OT). Move on the play VA Tech Sunday. Congrats to the Mids!

The Women's Committee has a ton to account for. This was a lousy pairing. Maryland was seemingly being punished for a non-con schedule that was less-than-challenging- two lower tier Pac-12 teams and Louisville, plus their home game with UConn.

Our women played great but we had no answer for the Maryland inside size. Congratulations to Coach and a remarkable senior class. They did belong on that court.

In yet another indicator of the far lower degree of parity in the women's game, Baylor today beat Texas Southern 119-30.

Maryland destroyed WVU in the 2nd round today. No way are they a 3 seed.

Navy women lost to Va Tech in the WNIT by 11. Got within 4 three separate times in the 4th until VT pulled away. Condie had 26 points on 9-15 shooting.

PL was well represented in the post season.

Tournaments are seeded mostly on computer data, instead of using the eye test. Maryland has the material to beat UCONN with a good effort. They play they game at different speed than we do in PL.

GW played hard, just couldn't make a shot vs Navy. Mids were playing 5v8, getting knocked around and still managed to pull it out. Will miss our seniors...

#10 seed Oregon takes our Maryland. An even better story in the women's tourney is #12 Quinnipiac making the Sweet 16. Just shows that a mid-major can compete with the big girls. They take on S. Carolina this afternoon. We'll see if they've got another upset in them.

UConn has been dominant so far. Oregon may have saved Maryland the humiliation of a big loss in the next round.

My family and I follow UConn very closely, and I think there is some chance of them losing. They did have very close games this year with Florida State, Tulane, and Maryland, plus fairly close games with ND, South Carolina, and Baylor. If a few things go wrong, they could lose to one of those teams. Unlike the last few years - when they definitely were unbeatable - they have some issues this year:

- They only have, at most, two viable subs, meaning that foul trouble can be an issue. Also injuries.

- Their starting center is 6-1 and their starting PF is 5-11. Both are very good and very athletic, but they do give up a ton of height to the strong teams that start 6-5 and 6-4 players.

- They only have one senior, and she is not one of their key players.

- They don't start a true PG, and the only one on the roster is a freshman.

Having said that, they do have the best coach. Also they only have players who care only about winning. They do not recruit players who care about their stats or minutes.

Next year, if they stay healthy, they should be unbeatable. They return their top four players, plus their two subs. Also they add two transfers, one of whom is a 6-6 wing who was an All-American at Duke as a soph. The other started at PF for Kentucky as a freshman. They also add the nation's best HS player, who has been compared to Maya Moore. Also add a few other good HS players.

Not that he would do it st this point, but do you think Geno Auriemma would be successful at a top Div I men's program? Obviously not "UConn women" successful, but consistently having a top 10 kind of team. With the lure of the NBA and ridiculous $$ for the top male players, they have to be more difficult to handle and perhaps motivate as a team dynamic. Just my perception that women players buy into a team program more easily than men. Maybe that's not true.

Baylor has been the most impressive of the other #1 seeds. Their closest game has been 34 pts. I could see them giving UConn a tough time in the championship game if they both get there. SC is banged up and ND had a tough time with Purdue in the last round.

I think there are more women that buy into the team concept, but the number unfortunately is getting smaller as AAU now dominates the landscape. Auriemma, however, refuses to recruit players who don't think only of the team. Notre Dame, Maryland, South Carolina, and Baylor have at least as much talent as UConn this year - but they don't have the coaching or the team orientation that UConn has.

UConn beat UCLA fairly handily today but not a blowout. To my point above, UConn only used one sub. Their starters played 40, 38, 38, 36, and 31 minutes. They are in great shape and can handle it - but foul trouble or an injury could change everything.

Quinnipiac scores their 1st points (2 FTs) 7 minutes into the game. It was fun while it lasted. Missed their first 9 FGs.
