I feel like our board is generally more skeptical of recruits and less skeptical of improvement from returning players than some of the others. A get like Llewelyn would be hyped as portending favorite status in some precincts, while the upside of even guys like Much would be played down. Anything the team can get out of Barnes or Kyle would be very helpful.

I enjoy the guys who blossom with no prior fanfare, from Maddox to Caruso to Stephens. I hope Barnes is the next in line.

Good question as to who may take a significant upward step. Strikes me as four potential candidates based on athletic and skill sets -- Arirguzoh, Barnes, DesRosiers and Much (alphabetical order). Unlikely but possible -- Gladson, Morales, Reynoso-Avila and Schwieger. Is there a Maddux in this group of eight?

Arirguzoh and Barnes are intriguing just simply based on their athleticism but probably less likely than DesRosiers and Much that may not have quite as much upside but they are basketball players.

Tigers will need one possibly two to really emerge this year and be major contributors. Final question may be how good/great Llewellyn may be. Time will tell.

I was also intrigued by Gladson's short stints last season, obviously limited by his injury and MH's desire to go small so much. Outside shooting wasn't great but he looked like a different guy in terms of passing, setting screens, and overall confidence. Seemed like the game had slowed down for him.

Over at IHO they have a Princeton preview. Apparently two of the incoming frosh were strong defenders in high school, one a PG who always guarded the toughest assignment and the other a 6'9" shot blocker. Given the defensive problems last year, I hope that their offensive games are good enough that they can get on the floor for a few minutes per contest.

It is always good to have a big body like Gladson. It will be interesting as to how many minutes Arirguzoh and Gladson receive. Gladson's value would significantly increase if he can hit some 3 pt shots which he has not done to date. He also has some limitations defensively but let's hope that he is healthy and worked on his quickness. I would not be surprised if Arirguzoh gets the majority of minutes because of his defense.
