There's a pretty extensive story in SI about Harrison and how he became Ball's agent. There is more to the story than most of us realized - a worthwhile read:

That's a fantastic article. Not sure if P38 will be enjoying it or rueing what was lost, though.

Interesting that they did not interview Miller for the story. Bromwell certainly didn't reveal much.

The whole article is a bunch of fluff that glosses over the truth: Gaines hung around long enough to ingratiate himself with LaVar Ball.

We'll see if he actually represents Lonzo Ball or if he becomes a gofer for LaVar Ball. My money's on the latter.

I rue everything that was lost during the Miller era. I'm generally a guy who doesn't regret things--they happen and you live with them---but the eventual run to the last game of the season with Miller's last team (under Jerome) showed what might have been had there not been the critical injuries and the inability to deal with setbacks that led to Miller blowing up.

Interesting, however, that Miller was the fall guy at U Conn after its down year last year.

Good for Harrison. He's hustling and creating opportunities for himself.

I think we all feel a bit bad when a student transfers out and gives up their Ivy degree. In the case of Gaines, everyone had further concerns that he was going to Riverside where he might have a lesser academic AND basketball experience. It sounds like everything has worked out just fine.

An Ivy degree opens doors, but fire in the belly trumps college degree.

Harrison wanted this way back during his time at Penn. Couldn't be happier for him, though my hope is that Lavar doesn't make life too hard on him.

Follow up article on Gaines in the Summer DP

Interesting stuff on that team (oh, what could have been...) and in particular, Remy Cofield. No spoilers, though, so you'll have to read the article.

"no confidence in the basketball team's leaders."

If he means Miller, that's one thing. If he means he had no confidence in emerging star Rosen, that's quite another.

I don't know what they're thinking not quoting Remy Cofield in more articles. It's so obvious that when they do talk to him, great new tidbits come out, but the DP so rarely let's him contribute. What gives? FREE. REMY. COFIELD.

I was waiting for someone to trot that out.

Also interesting that once again Miller is not quoted--did they even bother to approach him or anyone on his staff? I know the other article had some puff quotes from Bromwell and co.

I think Miller is somewhere in Thailand in search of low-cost whistles.

Not to restart this discussion yet again, but take a gander at the comments following that article (Warning: strong stomach required).

I feel like doing that every time there is a comment about Jerome Allen and everyone here chirps in about what a saint the guy is.

But I hold my tongue there too. Say no evil about the dead.

Interesting. I'm far from a Miller fan, but I'm surprised he seems to be struggling to find work. You'd think UCONN's associate head coach would be a valuable assistant somewhere. Doesn't sound like he's holding out for a head job or anything like that.

It might be age. His wouldn't be the only field in which you're considered over the hill when you pass 40. Also, despite the perceptions of those who commented on the newspaper article, he does have one rather large black splotch on his record. All that said, I expect he'll find a job. Despite his shortcomings (and we all do have those), he's clearly highly knowledgeable, and there are some aspects of coaching that he's particularly good at.

Can't believe that Jim Calhoun is unable to find Miller a job in the NBA with one phone call. But perhaps Kevin Ollie's NBA connections are deeper because of his long career as a reliable journeyman.
