Curious what Bucknell women attendance is. I find the past few years we have had entertaining teams but wonder how this is translating into filled seats.

Home attendance is typically 500-800, sometimes up to 1000. The PL playoffs drew 1200-1300 (with no students on campus). Better than some PL men's teams, but less than it should be for the quality of the team.

Women get a dominant win over a good HC team on the road 71-47. Definitely shows what they're capable of. If they can play that way consistently, they can compete with anyone in the league.

Big win over Navy tonight to pull into a tie for 2nd. Wasn't pretty, but they don't give style points. Loyola helped us by beating Lehigh on a last second 3. American is now 3 games up at 9-0.

Definitely wasn't pretty. Bison had 20 turnovers - including 4 in the first 5 minutes and 9 in the third quarter. But the game was won due to: (A) outrebounding Navy 44-31, and (B) Navy's two three-point specialists (Dunham and Fenske) hitting 1-15 on threes. Before this game, they were both in the league's top three.

AU is probably uncatchable, but 2nd or 3rd would assure the team a first-round tournament home game and a neutral site second round game.

I thought the defense was tough overall. Except for the 3rd quarter, they didn't give them many open looks. The offense was inconsistent, which has been all too typical of this season. We missed a lot of open 3's I'd normal expect us to make.

It looks like the PL has done away with the Semis & Finals at a single site. They have gone to the same format as the men with all games at the higher seed. Also, moved the semis from Friday to Thursday, with final still on Sunday. 2nd place becomes more meaningful now.

Bison host Boston this afternoon in a big game. Lehigh plays at Navy, so one of those teams will be 7-3, the other 6-4 at the end of the day. We need a win to keep pace for 2nd place.

The women are back in action after a bye week @ Lafayette Saturday afternoon. Trying hang on to 2nd with Navy (who they beat in their first match up). Crucial game at home vs. Lehigh, who is 1 game back in 4th, on Wednesday.

American and Navy are ranked in the mid-major top 25 (13th & 22nd iirc) giving some indication how tough the PL has gotten. Pre-season favorite Army is 4-6 and struggling to stay out of the bottom 4.

Women are up 43-23 at the half. They look really sharp. The week off without a game seems to have helped a lot. I think everyone but MK Moore played in the 1st half.

80-57 final, but it wasn't that close. Bison led by 32 before emptying the bench.

Bucknell announcement:
"Tonight's Bucknell Women's Basketball game vs. Lehigh is still on as scheduled at 6 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. Because of the wintry weather, we will have FREE ADMISSION!"

The women's team struggled on offense tonight, but Lehigh was somehow worse missing 16 of their 1st 17 shots. Got as close as 4 in the 3rd Q, but the Bucknell defense stepped up and they made enough shots and FTs for the win 59-52. Up 2 games on Lehigh. Looks like they will remain tied with Navy for 2nd.

Great come from behind win tonight @ Loyola. They always seem to give us trouble. After being down 14 at halftime, came back to win by 5. Big game next Wed in Annapolis could decide 2nd place and home court for the semis (if we get there).

Big win tonight in Annapolis. Bucknell would need to lose their last 2 (American, @Army) and Navy win both (Loyola, American). Beating American at home would be a big morale boost heading into the tournament.

Just a comment about the women. Not taking anything away from Nathan Davis, but Coach Aaron Roussell May be the best basketball coach currently employed in Lewisburg. ND points out that he has had the good fortune to come to winning programs with good personnel in place. In that regard he is fortunate, and to his credit he has to date built on the winning traditions of both Randolph Macon and Bucknell. Coach Roussell otoh, had no such good fortune. While I think the personnel that he inherited were certainly better than their record indicated, he certainly did not take over a team with a winning tradition, but he changed that fast.

On Saturday his Bison took down previously undefeated (in PL play) AU, and they are a legitimate contender for the Tourney Championship. On tv the crowd appeared to be of decent size, but definitely lacking students. The box score had it at 900, and while I was hoping for more, it seems like a lot of locals have discovered this wonderful team, even if the students have not.

Women have a tough final game at Army tonight to finish the regular season. Army has won 4 straight and 7 of their last 9 after starting 2-6 in league play. Army was picked as co-favorite (with Bucknell) to win the league. They're finally starting to play up to their potential. Luckily they're in American's side of the bracket.
