That is not a bad OOC schedule other than they are not playing any power conference teams at home. Then again, it is tough to schedule those teams as we know only too well.

Loyola has a shot to win that game. Memphis was mediocre last year (9-9 in the AAC) and had five rotation players transfer out - including three starters and their 6th man. One of the transfers was a rising junior who was first team All-AAC, and another was his brother who was the AAC ROY. Those two both left for Kansas. One of the others left for the SEC, and the other two are bound for UMass and Duquesne.
Memphis will be fighting to stay out of the AAC basement, unless their 7-man recruiting class turns out to be very good.

A jealous hat off to Navy for conceiving this event.
Why's it taking so long for Army to take a clue from its rival and likewise tap the well of military fervor and host three major conference teams at Christl?!

It might be tougher for Army for a couple,of reasons:
1. Annapolis is a very nice city with plenty of restaurants, hotels, and infrastructure. The area outside West Point is pretty much a black hole, albeit with some scenic areas.
2. Navy has some basketball history - David Robinson etc - which might give them more credibility with teams and fans. Also,in attracting opponents, DeChellis almost certainly knows a lot more high-level coaches than Jimmy Allen.

Good point. Walking down that street in Highland Falls always feels a little bleak, though I'm typically doing it in January or February rather than November.

Pitt is a great opener for Navy - a home game with a "name" team that is going to be absolutely horrible, perhaps the worst P6 team in the nation.
Pitt will likely not make the nation's top 150 and will be last in the ACC. They graduated four starters and also had six scholarship players transfer out, including their other top player. Also they had two incoming signees defect. Out of their entire 2016-17 roster, they will have two players return – and they didn’t play a lot this past season. Their roster includes seven freshmen, no sophs, one eligible junior (a juco transfer), two returning seniors, plus a grad student transfer from Lafayette.
As can be seen from their roster, Pitt has been desperately signing every available HS senior they can find. Also they brought in Lafayette’s Monty Boykins – as a graduate transfer player who is immediately eligible.
The Navy schedule lists the FGCU tournament as being three games, but that may be an issue. Last year they couldn't attract enough teams and played it as a three team round robin. As far as I can tell, there has been no announcement that they have filled the field. In the past, the teams have generally been so-so.

so how do they qualify for 13 ooc games if the FGCU tourney is three games? can they deem the Washington College game to be a part of the tourney?

That is an interesting question. NCAA rules limit a team to 27 games plus one tournament. Looks like they already have 28 plus the tournament. Did the get special NCAA exemption?

Not very attractive. Two home games, vs D3 John Jay and Columbia. And the John Jay game is being classified as an exhibition game by John Jay.
No home games between November 21st and January 2nd - about six weeks.

While Bucknell runs into trouble with schedule because several teams prefer not to play the Bison, it seems Army just prefers not to schedule many challenging games.

They have a few decent games (Harvard, Iona, URI, etc), but it certainly is not overly exciting. Looks like Carmody, with such a young team, didn't want to challenge them much.

Have the Bison ever played in official OOC games that were outside of the Continental 48?
