The Bison women are the only Bucknell basketball team to have played regular season games outside of the entire United States (which includes Puerto Rico). Over Thanksgiving weekend 2006, they played in the Caribbean Classic in Cancun. Split with Richmond and Monmouth.

There is an 8-team mid-major tournament in Cancun as well. I wouldn't mind seeing the Bison in that one.

I would LOVE to get Nova to play in the Hershey Arena. That would be lots of fun!

A neutral site game might be possible some year. There is no way Jay Wright is coming back to Sojka, but in a year when the Bison aren't as strong, he might be willing to play outside of Philly. I think Allentown would be more likely than Hershey however.

Colgate's schedule probably looks better than it is. Sounds like a good group if you think of Syracuse, UConn, and BC in a vacuum and ignore the fact that they ranked 55th,96th, and 173rd in the nation last year, with no NCAA bids. And if you read too fast to see the "Bradford" after Pitt, it might really sound good. That game, played in Cotterell a few days before Christmas, might draw fewer than 50 fans other than close relatives.

Seven of the 11 opponents ranked worse than #200 last year.

I've been thinking about this for some time and posted about it previously. I think it would be interesting for Bucknell to attempt to schedule a game each season in Hershey against a power conference team located relatively close, who might have a player from the area (I'm thinking perhaps Maryland, UVA or West Virginia). None of these teams would ever play in Lewisburg but might play in Hershey. I like the idea of Bucknell marketing itself as "Central Pennsylvania's team" and taking it right at Penn State.

I don't know about that...I bet Pitt-Bradford travels HUGE.

Yes, received a scholarship and obtained his Masters from Queens College Belfast. Presently active along with Pete Strickland (present coach of the Irish National Basketball Team) and Rory McIlroy with a group called Sport Changes Lives, presumably from that region. There's a kid that grew up in IRE (forget his name) that's one of the top recruits in the country. He's a beast.

Here's an article from a few months ago on the PL site that talks about Sports Changes Lives, with a lot of mentions of Shazier: http://www.patriotleague.org/news/2017/3/21/WBB_03 ...

And here is the article announcing that Darryl had won the Victory Scholarship: http://www.bucknellbison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_L...

Cory Starkey later was a recipient on that scholarship as well and spent a year in Ireland.

That sounds like a great opportunity. I'd like to apply for a Victory Scholarship and study in Ireland for a year . . . . but I can't dunk anymore and the wife, kids, job, and mortgage sort of get in the way.

North or Republic, something tells me that they both have good beer. So, sure, North would be a good experience.

Victory Scholarships are given to both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The majority of PL athletes, including Starkey, have gone to the Republic of Ireland. Starkey studied in Galway at the National University of Ireland. A Holy Cross women's player is currently studying under that program at the Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland.
