The Ivy League, along with the Big South, the Northeast Conference, and the Patriot League, have joined the Men's Basketball Officiating Alliance that was started by the ACC, Big East, A-10, and CAA last year.
Anything that will improve the officiating, especially for Saturday night conference games, would seem to be positive.
-- “We are excited to join the Men's Basketball Officiating Alliance with other premier conferences to enhance the quality of officiating,†said Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris. "We look forward to focusing our collective efforts on the training, development, assignment and recruitment of our officials, which will continue the upward trajectory of Ivy League basketball."
The Alliance will enable all eight conferences to work together on a wide range of officiating matters, including scheduling, training, development, recruitment, retention and evaluation. The long-term mission of the Alliance is to increase proficiency and consistency among veteran officials across the collegiate basketball officiating landscape and to facilitate the entry of younger referees into the officiating profession.
