Looked at the Vermont score and saw Northwestern leads Chicago St 81-21. It was 55-8 at halftime. How is that possible?

Chicago St has many lopsided losses but this was the worst (91-33).

So Chicago State only lost the second half by 190 and actually won the last few minutes 12-10. A moral vicory.

The takeaway is how much you can drop down in a year or two without continued recruiting success. I remember watching games in PF’s last year we we had Linthicum, Vegotsky, Castlebury, Behan etc on the floor. Not trying to belittle those individuals or their contributions as I think they themselves would agree they wouldn’t have done well playing Abe, Lee, Griffin, The German, KB etc. Can talk about coaching all you want but the game on the hardware is 90% played earlier on the roadways and gym visits. Can’t achieve without talented kids and they seem to get bigger, stronger and faster every year.

George Mason lost 74-51 at home tonight to Georgia Southern. They are now 5-6 with their best win being against Binghamton. Not the year their fans were hoping for.

- UNC beat Tennessee on the road 78-73.
- Vermont lost 81-79 to Bona in Rochester, with SBU hitting a long three from the wing as time expired. Bona hit 58% on twos and 67% (8-12) on threes for the game.
- Siena, in a rare good performance, beat Bryant on the road by 19.

SU still hanging around with 2:00 to play. Wow Lafayette is bad! No wonder their RPI is in the 330s.

A couple weeks ago I went to see SU play the winless Goucher Gophers. SU won by a single point on a driving layup with less than a second to play. Fun game to watch, but they really are pretty weak.

What does that say about Lafayette? SU has had some good teams, but this is a down year. On top of that, their best player, Ryan Traub, sat most of the 1st half with foul trouble. Still, he score 23 points in only 28 minutes. Imagine what the Bison would have done to them.

Villanova is getting crushed by Butler. Butler is 14-21 from 3. Hard to beat a team that's shooting like that.

Nova trailed by 22 points with 8:30 left, but cut the margin to 6 with 2:00 remaining. Couldn't get any closer however, and lost 101-93.
