Nova made it interesting. Showed a lot of fortitude not to panic when they got down big.

There are a couple notable injuries to players from teams on bucknell's non-conference schedule that have happened in the last week.
Maryland Forwards Justin Jackson (torn labrum) and Ivan Bender (right knee injury) are both out for the season.
Vermont forward Anthony Lamb is out 6-8 weeks with a broken foot.

This was kind of a replay of last year - except for the result. Last year he left the team for 7 or 8 games but was allowed to return. This year he again left the team, two weeks ago, but after a lot of talk, it was mutually decided he is not returning. Although talented, he was a major disciplinary problem - but also he was jerked around by Patsos in a major way. I imagine he will transfer to a D2 school, where he can play without sitting out a year. That assumes that he can't graduate in three years and not have to sit out at a D1 program.

Interesting to see how Vermont has been playing without Lamb. They've jumped about 20 places in kenpom since he went down.

Yes, 9-0 in the AE and pounded 2nd place UMBC yesterday 81-53. If they get Lamb back they're going to be dangerous.

I see that the Bison are up to #79 in RPI (http://realtimerpi.com/college_Men_basketbal l_rpi2.html).
How much does RPI really count? Personally, it seems that kenpom.com does a much more realistic job of ranking teams.

Drexel tonight, at home, trailed Delaware 53-19 with 2:30 left in the first half. Ended up winning 85-83, outscoring the Blue Hens 66-30 over the last 22:30. Biggest comeback in NCAA history.
Drexel still trailed 77-63 with 6:30 left and then went on a 20-4 run to grab the lead. Apparently Zach Spiker must have pushed the right buttons for a change. Drexel improved to 12-18 btw.

RPI counts a lot in picking the field and in the seeding process since it was created by the NCAA. Yes, it is not nearly as good as systems like Pomeroy - which incorporate score differential. However using score differential is something the NCAA did not want to do. Once you take that step, there is every reason for every winning team to try to run up the score. Think of games where dominant teams never use the end of the bench, even when up by 60 points. And games where a team leading by 50 points continues to use an aggressive full court press. If Pomeroy was an official part of the selection process, that is what you'd see. And a lot of inevitable fights as well.
Having said that, the committee unofficially is allowed to look at other ranking systems.

Tough loss for former Bucknell director of basketball operations Jamion Christian and Mount Saint Mary's tonight: Upset in a #2 vs #9 game in the NEC tournament.
In cheerier news about the extended Bucknell family, senior Jesse Flannery and the Hopkins Blue Jays won the Centennial League championship over the weekend and host first-round Division 3 tournament action on Friday. Flannery had a huge three to tie the championship game after the Blue Jays trailed by 10 at the half.

Was a 2 vs 7 game. Was the 9th time in the last 13 years that MSM & RMU have met in the conference tournament, and the home team is 3-6 in those 9 games. The Mount has won most of those road games and is 5-4 in the 9 games.
As for the other game mentioned, GO HOP!

Wonder if we'll see a comebacks montage on SportsCenter that includes Colgate- Bucknell. Saw one last week after the huge Drexel comeback vs Delaware.

A clash of Bucknell connections: Mark Prosser, former Flannery assistant, is Winthrop's associate head coach.
