It looks like Nate Jones' mom will have a 4 1/2 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Detroit on Thursday night or Friday morning.

Looks like Vt did not want to be in NIT. Lost to Midfle Tenn 90-61.

Or that MTSU is that good. Was not a good matchup for the Catamounts. Travel and gametime didn't help. For all the talk about Arizona State, Notre Dame and Okla State, I thought MTSU was the most deserving team left out of the NCAAs.

NIT seeds are worthless too. Certainly not reflective of the teams most close to making the NCAA tourney.

I want to pull hard for Lipscomb to pull the upset vs. NC but “Bisons” is making it very tough...

Wow. 5:00 to go and #16 UMBC leads #1 Virginia 56-42. Even a man down for Virginia, this is unbelievable. Historic.

Gotta feel for the Houston kid who missed both ftee throws with 3.9 secs left. Misses kept Mich behind by 2 enabling their 3 point buzzer beater.

As I was watching, the old ABC Sports saying came to mind, "The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat."

Down goes Michigan State. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy than the jackass Izzo.

Unless it happened to the jackass Boeheim. Tough call for me.

It was tough for me too. But based on recency, it was easier to root against Izzo. But definitely two bad guys.

Wow, A&M is crushing Carolina. This tournament is turning weird (not that is wasn't already). Maybe UMBC will win another game.

Courtesy of the HC board:

Syracuse today...

- Had 3 Assists
- Lost rebound battle 51-30
- Allowed 26 offensive rebounds
- Had one 3 point shot (out of 8 attempts)

and won the game.

I admit I took some satisfaction in the orange uniforms taking down MSU.

John Giannini was let go by La Salle today. Could be some PL coaches in play. Matt Langel's roots are Philly (played at Penn, coached at Penn and Temple) and Colgate looks like they may have peaked. Brett Reed was interested in the Drexel job last year. And Nathan Davis' name keeps popping up for jobs - although I'm not sure he'd be interested in La Salle at this point. (Not sure if La Salle would be interested in him either, until he demonstrates he can recruit.)

Being fascinated with numbers, the performance of 11 seeds in remarkable this year. Loyola Chicago still alive in the Elite 8 snd Syracuse in the Sweet 16. San Diego State lost to Houston on a last second layup.

On the women's side, three 11 seeds won first round games and two are in the Sweet 16 - Buffalo and C. Michigan.

Jamion Christian is reportedly in the running to replace Jimmy Patsos at Siena. Patsos was fire a few weeks ago for various types of misconduct.

Christian, a former Bison staffer, has been successful at Mt. St. Mary's, although he has had an inexplicable run of transfers the past few years.

Interesting. I wouldn’t have thought that enough of a step up to entertain leaving his alma mater.
