He was really clutch down the stretch. Was interesting to see him playing almost the whole stretch run. Showcasing him for a trade?

That's possible - but I think there is a good chance it is simply a function of Mike playing well lately, shaking off the rust from the serious ankle injury that caused him to miss two full months. Remember that he was playing 20-25 minutes each game before he got hurt.
Since Mike returned, here are his stats per 40 minutes (a full game for a top starter):
- 70% on 2-point FGs (16-23)
- 60% on 3-point FGs (15-25)
- 80% effective FG pct.
- 87% on FTs
- 19 ppg
- 10 rpg
- 2 apg
- 1 bpg
- 1 spg
- 3.5 fouls
- 1.5 turnovers
Overall these are the best numbers of his career. (I realize that he wouldn't sustain that production level if he played 40 mpg, but looking at it that way helps to give some context to his numbers.)

The Hawks are so terrible they should integrate him into the regular rotation.

The Hawks could potentially be interested in trading Mike. He can opt-out of his $5 million contract for next year. He may do that with the goal of getting a longer term deal somewhere else. If the Hawks aren't interested in giving Mike an extension (which may be the case because they didn't do it last year), why not trade him now to get something in return?

I’m not sure what you get. It’s not a first round draft. Maybe a second round pick and cash or a hump player. That’s it.

I doubt Mike will opt out since the NBA in general is facing financial stagnation. The cap for next year is barely going to rise, and teams have already committed money based on a much higher estimate of what the cap would be. It turned into a buyers' market this past summer - which is why MM got a lot less than equivalent players got the year before. This year will be worse for mid-tier players. Fwiw, there are seven NBA teams with any real space under the salary cap.

There are lot's of hours of work involved to earn those 15 minutes. But $5M is a good bit of money regardless. I'm guessing he stays put.

The Hawks cut ties with Ilasova, so Muscals should be in line for increased minutes the rest of the season as the Hawks battle it out with about half of the NBA to see who can tank the best.

Although the Hawks lost on the road to the Pacers tonight, Mike had a nice game. . In 21 minutes, he had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Hit 1-1 on twos, 3-5 on threes, and 1-1 from the line.

Nice opportunity for Mike to shine on a dog of a roster. Cutting ties with Milsap was so stupid in my mind

True, they obviously would have been significantly better with Milsapp, but had they paid him the $30 Million a year he ended up with, they would have ensured an era of perpetual mediocrity. With him gone, they have a good shot at getting Bagley, Ayton, or Doncic in the draft. Plus they are miles under next year's cap - unlike most NBA teams - which will give them a chance to sign some good free agents down the road. In their best long-term scenario, they will get the top pick but be bad for another year and add another high pick. Then start to spend some money.

Muscala is up to 22 points with 4 min left in a homecoming game at Minnesota. I am guessing that may be a career high.

I think that is correct. It appears that the 19 points he had a couple of weeks ago was his previous high.

Two more free throws now at 24.
A huge loss for the Hawks who not only stay in bottom 3 of NBA draft, but they have Minnesota’s lottery protected 1st rounder and Minn in last playoff spot on West. So a double special loss.

Ended with 24 points in 25 minutes. Hit 4-4 on twos, 4-6 on threes, and 4-4 on FT's. The Hawks lost however.
