Game notes are out for season opener against Johnson & Wales. Probable starters listed as:

Forward: Travis Fuller
Forward: Joshua Howard
Guard: Desmond Cambridge
Guard: Brandon Anderson
Guard: Zach Hunsaker

Notes also listed Massey, Triplett, Erebor, Sullivan and Choh as key reserves. Okolie still out with a foot injury.

ET, De Wolf will play major minutes, and I like George M-W.

It's interesting that we are opening up against a D3 team this year after opening up against a Top 25 last year. I think that's a luxury given all the freshmen this year. That Top 25 / this-will-help-us-later thing never seems to work.

We'll see how good these Freshmen are pretty quickly. But I'm interested in all the guys you both mentioned.

Erebor will earn some time as well, IMHO.

Well he’ll be the tallest guy on the court by about 4 inches because JWU’s tallest player is 6’5.

It's been a long time waiting for another freshman class that can rival that of the Phil Brown class of '71-'72, but the wait is over. It may not be a full 10 to 12 freshman class as that one was. But there is a huge injection of athleticism not seen in a very, very, long time. It was not just the 106 points we put up on a D3 team. It was that at least 12 players saw minutes when the game mattered and they all contributed. Cambridge and Choh can sky like Phil Brown did, and like few at Brown ever have. Hunsaker is a poised, experienced guard with good shooting ability and floor presence. DeWolf started and showed passing ability from the high post and confidence in his first college game. George M-K even hit a 3 pointer from the corner on his first varsity shot.

A starting backcourt of Anderson, Hunsaker, and Cambridge will put a lot of pressure on defenses by pushing the ball aggressively and looking to get inside. The key to the season is if the Bears can continue to shoot free throws like yesterday. Many games are won and lost at the line.

There was well over 1000 fans for a glorified scrimmage. I have a feeling this team will create excitement on campus and among the casual basketball fans in RI, of which there are many. I'm very much looking forward to Monday's game, against a team that beat Dartmouth 78-77, after their best player announced he is leaving the team.

I expect that once Okolie returns Cambridge comes off the bench. And Fuller and Howard start.

It was nice to start that game with Brown’s first alley-oop dunk in a decade.

I don't see how Cambridge doesn't get major minutes. Too many starters is a good problem to have.
