i'm with jkrun on this, way to early to panic. lot's to work on, but plenty of time. ran into a very athletic team that played very well tonight. how were we all feeling after the Butler game last year?
Yes, certainly no need to panic. A lot of work ahead but I expect things to improve. I really would like to see them work some on the matchup zone however. Also a healthy Kimbal Mackenzie would help. I assume everyone noted he was shut down for the night a couple minutes into the second half. It's obvious his injury is affecting his play significantly. If his health doesn't improve the next few days, it might make sense to not let him play Wednesday night. Definitely need him to get healthy.

Are we going home tonight or heading straight to Chapel Hill?
I'm sure they will come home and go to class tomorrow and Tuesday. This isn't UNC.
Yes, remember that PK80 event is paying for charter planes. They chartered to Arkansas Saturday morning. Will charter back to PA this evening. Then to UNC late Tuesday afternoon. Then likely back Wednesday night right after the game. Only one missed class day.

Oh good. I guess chattering into Harrisburg or Williamsport is a lot better than flying commercial to Philly or Baltimore with long bus rides to follow

I’m with Husky, this team is not the same as the one that played WVU(who btw, got their own butt kicking from TA&M yesterday). Never the less, this team is not in anyway comparable to the 2006 team that returned nearly everybody from the Kansas killing 2005 team. While we may have outscored Ark for a good portion of the 2nd half, we could done just as well if 4 men stayed back in the offensive zone when Ark had the ball, because that is how bad the defense was. Fwiw, I preferred the old PF slow down and play tight defense style of PF. Think about this... yesterday we scored more than 20 points more than when we beat Ark in 2006... but still lost by nearly 30. I am sure we will be fine for the PL, but I think we were hoping for more than that this year. Still say Kimbal is the key... he is the missing ingredient thus far.

Yes, much better than that. That said, the hired plane was so small they had to stop for gas in Cincinnati.

Payouts vary depending on circumstances. When it is a buy game that is not part of a tournament, the amount is negotiated and can be between $50k and $100k, sometimes more. The school in most cases would pay its own travel expenses out of that amount.
In the case of the Arkansas game, it is part of the PK80 tournament, normally with teams getting a payday plus expenses paid. That would include the costs of chartering a plane since the required travel is virtually impossible without chartering. Teams couldnt afford to commit to a tournament - where they don't know where they are going at the time of commitment - unless expenses were covered.

Well, time to move on. We might as well not even play if our free throw percentage is as good as a middle schools team. Yet we have to play the NCAA national champions.
We have a really good team, just unprepared for this caliber of play. We can't hang like that.
This Cinderella is still getting pushed around by the step sisters and only sweeping floors. Its a long way to the dance from here.

Well, you need to consider they played a late game Friday night, bused back to Lewisburg in the early morning hours Saturday. Got back on a bus to the airport Sat morning and flew to Arkansas. No wonder they looked tired.

I am pretty sure that all of the players are 18-22 years old. Other than following a few late night parties, I do not remember being tired at that age.
Sorry but I think that they need to be better prepared to play.

Steven Kaspar made the five hour drive from his home in Memphis to attend the Arkansas game. At Bucknell, he overlapped with the seniors.

Agree about Kaspar. I thought he was one of the more underrated players the Bison have had - and he deserved more playing time as a junior and especially as a senior. In his junior year, he had the nation's 6th best assist rate (pct of baskets that he assisted on while on the floor) and was in the top 70 as a senior. He was also nationally ranked both years in steal pct, despite DP strongly discouraging players from ever trying to steal the ball. He also was a good defensive player and had a very good rating for a guard on defensive rebounds.
One thing that might surprise people is that in his senior year he led all PL players in assist:turnovr ratio in league games.
