They made the first few threes, and now they are shooting too many.

A few things. Why are we playing this game and more importantly, why now? Something fall through? Are cheesesteaks still in play?

As to the game, it's not very fair but I'll take seeing makes. We won't mention AJs line and instead I'll just say that Jarrod Simmons has a really nice looking stroke.

Jarrod Simmons dunk stroke? 2 of those so far.

Donahue likes bringing in a D3 team. He played at a D3 school.

I think we are playing this because it is a requirement of the Gulf Coast Showcase tournament next week. All of the D-1 teams in that tourney are playing a lower division school at their home site over the course of November.

That is exactly what it is. Apparently all 8 in the tourney open with one.

100 is definitely in play.

As to Jarrod, it's at the line Im most impressed. He front rimmed a free throw and it still went down. Guys of his size don't usually have that kind of touch.

99-40 final. Missed out on cheesesteaks thanks to a missed breakaway Ray Jerome dunk and then a failed 3-1. Lol. I still can't believe it.

They don't do the cheesesteak promotion anymore, so it was not an issue.

However, first $5000 miss in 3 games.

I heard otherwise and thought there was a chance after seeing them still advertise. The 5k shot had the distance.

While it isn't fair, it is also good to see every once in a while to get some perspective on the team. Against Lasalle, Caleb Wood looks like nothing more than a shooter. Fun to see him out-muscling and out-jumping guys today. Obviously, there is a big difference between D1 and D3, and it was kind of interesting to see it.

Helpful reminder that Simmons and Scott will be fine, as well. They were on a whole different plane from the competition, and will only get better.

Perspective on the team? In an exhibition game?!!!

It's a travesty that this team is reduced to playing an exhibition game to qualify for a "tournament" with a field where none of the teams are even going to sniff the NCAA's.

I hope the Abner's staff was ready to tell the ticket wavers to get the H out. Come back when you can score against a real team.

This team seems to be hitting their stride now. Go win this tournament.

Agreed. You can only play the teams in front of you. And it's great to get the new guys 20 minutes of PT.

I guess you could say that the only thing worse than playing a DIII team is playing a DIII team and not beating them convincingly.

The only thing worse than that is losing to Carnegie Mellon

So, do we need to contact the Athletic Communications Office to eliminate the high-scoring 1969-70 Muhlenberg (115-79) and 1993-94 Haverford (114-73) games from the record books?

There’s just a ton of difference between the top end of D-III and the bottom end of D-III (and more importantly here, non-NCAA/NAIA schools entirely, which PSU-Brandywine is).

Top D3 schools are pretty competitive with the lower 50 schools in D1. Top D2 schools could stay on the court with non-Top 200 D1 schools. A team like Babson that owns the D3 level would only be a few point dog to Dartmouth on a neutral floor.

With so many satellite Pitt and Penn St. schools that are NCAA members at the D2 and D3 level, playing a non-NCAA member seems silly, even relative to playing a non-D1 team to start...

The whole thing was a silly exercise. My only hope is that the players understand that this game is indicative of nothing.

You could tell in warmups that this was a high school level team.

But why the criticism? It was required to get 3 extra games that don't count towards the maximum number. Penn can use the work--again, I am very optimistic that this team can play on a much higher level than last year's team and we're starting to see why. Let's revisit where they are at the end of December.
